Soooooo I finally decided to get a smartphone, but I really don't know what. I want something mostly for using the internet and 4G capability(despite the fact that Sprint has been taking their sweet, sweet time getting a 4G network in Milwaukee). So I want something that's fast processor/memory-wise with a bigger screen. Having a decent camera is not important to me.

Seems like my options are:
-HTC EVO 4g
-iPhone 4S 8GB
-Maybe Samsung Galaxy, but that would cost me twice as much as the other two.

This will be a big step up from my dumb flip phone, so I'm not sure what to expect/look for. Advice?

i'm on sprint and i've got a motorola xprt which i am so in love with. it doesn't have 4g but it has wifi so it's cool. i got it mainly cuz i need the phsyical keyboard.

you can't go wrong with the evo except for the fact that it has awful battery life. i really recommend you go android instead of getting an iphone. there is almost no reason not to go android freal. SO MANY FREE APPS.

Free apps. I likes me the sound of that. I thought about the physical keyboard, but I don't think it's all that necessary for me.

4g kills your battery, yo.

I was skeptical about iPhones until I actually got one. They do rule.

its probably not up everybody's alley, but hopefully it will stand up to some of the abuse i dish out. its the casio gz'one commando. supposed to be shock resistant, water proof & dust proof.

iPhone hands down.

I really like my iphone, but 8gb is small. You get a few large apps on there and the HD space just disappears. I have a 32gb 3gs that is basically full. I guess I like to have a good amount of my music with me, but I might go with one of the other phones that you can expand via micro SD.

That's what I'm concerned with. Also, is the iPhone 4S able to connect to 4g networks? That's a big selling point for me. I want actual 4G capability(hoping they ever actually get the network out here), not "4G speeds" or "4G kind-ish-whatever-fuck-you."

I like my IPhone quite a bit. I wish the battery kept a charge for a longer period of time though.

Stays charged for two weeks straight and is neigh indestructible.

my friend showed me an app on his, we couldn't figure out the name of a song that was playing in our local Taco joint.
he turned the app on, held the phone up and it recorded for about 10 secs then gave the name of the song and artist.

he also has a Peterson stobe tuner app.
I think I need a smart phone now too.
