Does anybody know if there is a way to recover a password thats stored in windows vault? Ive googled and tried and tried and tried but i just cant figure out if theres a way to do it. Ive completely forgotten my live password and while its saved on my computer and my xbox i still have to know it to change anything about my account, anybody know how to recover this?

Does the Windows Live password reset webpage not work? I'm still on Vista and have no idea what this Windows Vault is, but that would be my first instinct.

You have to know your existing password to edit it. I dont even remember the answer to my secret question....

So as I'm understanding it, you don't have any other email addresses connected to your Windows Live account? If you do there's an option to send a reset link to your other email addresses, and if not, you can do the "contact customer service" option and give them enough info that they know it's you and they'll send a reset link to whatever email address you give them.

(I'm talking about this page, https://account.live.com/password/reset, maybe you're talking about something else and I'm just dumb)

And if Carl's stuff doesn't work, consider giving them a call. I haven't worked with that side of Microsoft, but I've had good luck with other parts of their tech support.

i did this stupid thing where i filled out the information when i signed up for Xbox Live like 5 years ago with bullshit information, like i live at "1234 Nunya Bidness Ave". real smart.

i called them up and they walked me through resetting everything and filling out the information where i....... you know........ had a chance in hell answering "what's your secret question" when i called up for tech support.

oddly enough, Xbox support is the best i've ever dealt with as an end-user. always Americans that speak English natively, hardest accent i've heard is southern, and most times they're huge fucking nerds so they know more than that level of support should.

CALL THEM. DO IT.

but be nekid. doing....... stuff to yourself. adds such an element of danger to any support call.
