That depends on both the PSU and the unit.
If the unit is super sensitive to voltage, it could break it (but I doubt that). More likely it'll run kinda hot and shorten its life. Most modern things an accept a reasonable voltage range, but it's better to be safe, unless you don't care too much.
If the PSU is unregulated and spec'd for a higher current than the thing is pulling, it could also put out an even higher voltage.

hmm well i just got this video kaoss pad off ebay, seller did not provide a power supply. i think they're pretty rare so I dont want to risk damaging it.
i have one of those universal power adapter things, that u can select the voltage, and the size/polarity of the tip...there is 6V and 7.5V, no 7V. I can't remember exactly what the mA rating is on it.i think its like 1200 mA....dont know if it is regulated or not....seems pretty cheap tho.
i guess since I am concerned I'm prolly better off finding one that fits the specs properly...hopefully that wont be too hard.

i think if i'm reading the site right, thats an AC to AC adapter? i think i needs DC
lookin at the manual, the specs are 7V DC, theres no mention of the mA's, off the top of my head i'm pretty sure its center positive and I'll havta check tonight what size barrel it takes.

7V is hard to find. 7.5 is pretty standard.
Here's one, but it looks like it has the small kind of plug. Adapters are pretty easy to find, though.

i've been looking too, and 7V DC is def quite rare, def seems the standard is 7.5V....makes me wonder if i would just be okay using one of those?
i've had 9V Boss adapters that actually said 9.6V on it....same kinda thing mebbe?

One Spots are 9.6V too. I think that's because alkaline 9V batteries are 9.6V when brand new, and they just call it 9V to match the batteries.
7.5V is probably fine. If it was me, I'd try it. But it's not my fault if it breaks it. >.>

i tried the 7.5V friday night, kept it on for an hour or two, seems to not be running hot or anything
