im currently working on a deal that includes of these but i dont know anything about the epiphone version and couldnt find a demo on youtube. anyone own/played one before?

A firebird is very practical! I love gibson ones! If it were me I'd upgrade the pickups because I hate epi pickups.

Yeah, epi's are usually pretty solidly built for the price. You can always swap out the hardware.

thats what i was thinking too. i owned a gibson firebird V and VII in the past but found both to be overpriced glorified paper weights. neither could stay in tune and were ridiculously neck heavy. i was hoping maybe the epiphone would be more balanced and player friendly.
