So maybe it wasn't that bad that I haven't set it up yet. Today's headline: Dow closes down 513; worst drop since 2008

Depends what type of retirement account you mean.

Most of my money is invested in Emerging Asia and has been doing pretty decent consistently.

About the worst thing I have done with any money is dumping some in a retirement account. I pretty much cut it in half within a year.
And then when you ask to move it the stupid sales people remind you that it is a long term investment and suggest you put more money in.

You are better off paying off bills / paying down your house.

Also: The market is a trainwreck I mostly moniter metals markets and everything is so up and down right now that it is almost impossible to set pricing, plus the chinese do funny thing with material reserves that we have no control over.

Yeah, my company uses Vanguard funds, which I've been meaning to look into. I think they have a pretty broad range of options from high-risk/yield (mostly int'l) to basically all treasury bonds. My uncle is a wealth manager, so I need to pick his brain...

This.

Precious metals and energy/utilities have been doing great, too.

Have to be careful in the market right now. With the Fed printing money and interest rates artificially depressed there is no other place to get a decent return on investment. It is the perfect conditions for a stock bubble to form. Hasn't anyone else wondered why the stock market was doing so great (until the last two days), while the economy was still in the shitter?

The guys have it right over at TGP. Put all your money into vintage gear. When you have blackface and tweed Fender amps up to the ceiling in at least one room of your house then you know it's time to quite your job. Don't you dare plug them in and play them though!

I have a feeling that is what dev is up to with all those killer fuzz pedals.

I am not investing a single cent and banking on the world ending before I hit retirement age
I think the odds are in my favor :thumb:

Who gives a fuck about retirement money? That's just plain shortsighted of you.
