So Amp question.

Ok guys.

First off

Secondly:

So I have been saving up for nothing special for the past few months and doing a damn good job at it, long story short I was going to spend around 2,000 on top notch gaming rig but I just came to realization that I could spend it on something that will matter a damn to me and not be worthless in 5 years.

I need to know about tube amps that will take effects well.............. I love the AD 200 Mk3 and have played it.

Point me to what I shale piss of the neighbors with.

btw I play bass.

not that good at it but I am happy.

:excellent:

Mesa/Boogie 400+ or maybe save a little longer and go the Meatsmoke route.

Look for a Sunn, bro. With that kind of cash, you could get some serious amplifier worship going if you're patient.

Just, please, buy used.

Options are endless! What are you looking for outside of handles pedals well?

I will indeed. I am kind of leery trading and buying outside of ILF anymore but I have had nothing but good deals with people on TB.

I love the orange tone, more than that I like what happens when you play through a nice set of warm tubes on the bass. I was also ready to pull the trigger on Fender Bassman 100 but asked you kids here and it was a lot higher than what was the reasonable price here on ILF (which it was, I saw another for 450 on craigslist the same day).

I am looking for anything really, as long as it is a tube based amp. I have owed nothing but solid state in the past and would like to spend time with a good tube amp. I haven't even thought of looking at speakers yet.

Sunn amps well I have played both a concert bass and the PA. Really bright sounding, and I think I like something that is darker in its tonal quality.

Their tube amps are definitely darker sounding. They're what made doom, essentially.

Maybe talk to Aen and see if he's still planning on making the 100-watt version of the Love Buzz. I bet that fucker will sound sick huge.

The new Super Bassman looks mighty promising. Anyone hear a price or release date on that one yet?

I yet to find a tube bass amp that does not play nice with FX. That said.
Mesa: clear
Ampeg: ballsy
Sunn: chewy
Orange: smoky
Fender: somewhere inbetween mesa-y and ampeg-y
Marshall;Lemmy-y

But... them all being big tube amps they are all "warm" and sound "massive" and will "crush your soul" and have lots of sonic "texture" and can get "gritty" and "grindy" and be like a "ten ton sonic fist"

I do enjoy Lemmy-y. Also, my friend has a Univox bassman-alike and it's just this molten gooey warm thing. It almost makes me want to get a tube amp.

I know you have had your orange for a while. I like the sounds that have come out of that amp.

I heard that the super bassman was going to be 2k when it came out.

I love tube amps! last weekend I play a outdoor deal with my 18 watt Bassman 20 on 8 it was a great sound and balanced well with un-amped even a few hundred feet away :thumb:
