what should i do? (BST drama content) 2012 Update

Ok, so a while back I agreed to buy a pedal from a reputable ilfer on bst. I pp gifted him payment and after my payment cleared, he said he would ship it out no later than the next day. After two weeks, i messaged him and said i was concerned that usps may have lost the pedal, but he messaged me back that weekend saying that he had been without internet for the past week and had been unable to get the pedal sent because he couldn't access my address. He said the pedal was in safe hands and that he had every intention of mailing it out the following monday. I messaged him back saying it was cool and thanked him.

That was a month ago. He hasn't logged onto ilf since he sent me that last message.

So what should i do? I can't get a hold of him and since I gifted the money, i can't place any kind of claim woth paypal. It looks like i got ripped off, but i am still skeptical of this becuase i have never had a bad transaction on here and this guy was an established member with good bst feedback. Furthermore, he never even asked me to gift him the money, i chose to do that on my own, so it doesnt seem like he was trying to rip me off. Maybe he just seized the opportunity? It just doesn't seem like it would be worth it for him. Is it possible that maybe something is actually wrong with him that he wouldn't be able to even log on and give me an update?

Just wondered how you all felt about this situation. Thanks.

Did you get his name? You could probably find him on facebook. Seems like he's ripped you off though.

Man, I hope to not.

Ditto on the name. Facebook would be my first option.

I'd go through the mods, get as much info as you can about him, and track the fucker down. You should be able to get contact info off PP too.
it's possible he's ripped you off. It's possible he's had an accident or something and you won't know until you contact him.
I wouldn't start a witch-hunt until you're sure of what's happened.
It's a bummer for sure.

If you paypal'd him you have his email, on a lot of social networking sites you can find people via email. You could at least see if he has internet that way.

I've had a rough trade like this and the guy made a bunch of excuses and I gave up on him but 2 months later I got the pedal. Lame deals are lame.

Situations like this are why I don't use the gift option with PayPal.
I'd much rather pay an extra couple bucks and have recourse if needed.

I hope it works out for you.

Was it elbandito?

jk that sucks though. I've been lucky to only have really smooth transactions here so far.

Never use the gift function. It isn't worth the extra 3% off (I never understood people who don't include paypal/shipping costs in their asking price).

Out him, dude has had enough time to make it right, regardless of whatever their situation might be.

Yeah, i guess ill try to contact him through other sources since he hasn't been logging onto ilf. The funny thing is, i think he is from cleveland, which is only like an hour from my house. Im not too concerened about the money i lost (just $90), im just bummed about the situation. I was really looking forward to getting this pedal and trying it out with my new band. Its also the only negative experience ive ever had in almost three years of good ilf trades. Possibly the worst thing is that my wife really won' t trust me to buy any more pedals off of bst until this thing clears up. Not that she ever really was crazy about it in the first place, lol.

Anyway i hope nothing bad has happened to this guy, but i also hope to see this pedal someday. For those of you who wondered, the ilfer in question here is Communarchy, he has been a member here even longer than me and has only good feedback in the bst feedback thread, so i want to be very slow to accuse him of ripping me off. I think its unlikely, but the whole thing just seems strange.

Thanks for listening you guys.

Dang! I've had transactions with him before and all was legit, also I feel comfortable using the gift option with paypal.
