Leaving in mid August, going to school out there.
I will be in Ft. Collins. Any tips? Music scene in the area? Places to see, stuff to do, what to avoid, etc?

CSU I assume? Great school, really good music school if your into that. As far as venues in Ft Collins I can't tell you shit, but Denver has a LOT of cool places to see shows. Definitely go skiing if you can, its a fucking blast! Go up to the mountains, just stay away from the touristy places (Breckenridge, Aspen, Estes Park etc) and head for the parks and hiking trails. Boulder is only a hop skip and jump down the road, so definitely go visit there at least once or twice.
Go visit the New Belgium brewery and do a tour if your interested. I haven't, but from tales of everyone who has, they make it well worth your time.
The weed's top notch especially if you get it from a dispensary.
Be careful when you first get here. High altitude can make you sick quickly even though you don't realize it till its too late.
UNC in Greely is right across the interstate, but it smells like cow shit. Great fucking Jazz band though.

Going to community college for a year to get my residency. Sucks, I know, but I can't take out loans for 50 grand a year...
Don't smoke weed, but I have been told I should start especially out there
I've been there before and the altitude doesn't affect me that much. Granted, I didn't go run a couple miles right away, but yeah. The trip out through Nebraska was the worst. Whole place smells like shit (no offense if you live there, but it sucks)
Astricii, I'll make it out to Denver and we will rage!

i've heard good things about the music scene in fort collins. they seem to be very supportive of it, though bands from there tend to move to denver as soon as they're able. i've never played or seen shows in foco, but Road 34 is the venue everyone suggests. there are a couple big festivals: Bohemian Nights happens mid august, i think the 12-14th this year, and is free. it showcases a lot of northern co bands, and a handful of denver bands; FoCoMX happens in the spring and is pretty similiar, except i don't think they bring in national headliners.

Yeah. It goes from like 50 to less than 20. There seem to be some kinda cool venues in the area, close enough to Boulder and Denver for shows and stuff. Hope I can meet up with some of you guys when I get settled

ha ha FOCO... I used to live in Littleton in the 80's and have fond memories... My cousins still there and says CO is awesome so I'm sure you'll like it... I did get that altitude sickness once out of nowhere even after I'd been to all the sky cities so watch out...

Dude. I've never smoked Colorado weed but I think you should start smoking weed.
Smoke as much weed as possible.

My roommate lived in Ft. Co for about a year.
New Belgium is a fantastic brewery, but don't overlook Odell--their Isolation Ale is one of my favorite beers.
Musicwise they seem to get the same bands that every other smallish town gets.
Also, you'll probably want a bike.
