I think it's more funny when kids raised conservative just freak out.
Or as I like to call them, bible college sluts.

i don't find it funny, i find it the normal way of the world. like the cliche goes, "if you aren't a radical at twenty, you have no heart. if you aren't a conservative at forty, you have no brain." but then, i'm an old hippie and a conservative...because i appreciate that it's only those principles that allow for a country vital enough for people like me to live as something other than wards of the state.

This thread reminds me of my mom. Or what about when punks turn hippie? Or when metallers turn "alter-native"? The latter is particularly funny. Dudes would quasi-microbraid their mullets and wear RHCP t shirts. Also, when hippies/punks/etc. turn not-necessarily-conservative,but raging yuppie scumbag. Nothing funny about that one. Sad,sad, sad.

As someone who started out a metalhead and discovered alt-rock, then indie, then shoegaze (and so on), this cuts awfully close to home.

I never wore RHCP tshirts, though. Just Soundgarden...

 I think this is the case for a lot of us here, though, bud!(including a certain ghost with an azure hue). I swear upon all things fuzzy, that when I was in the 5th grade,I went to an Ozzy concert with Anthrax opening. My apparell?
Mullet
Ozzy headband
denim vest with multiple Hesh patches
Black Spandex pants with fringes and zebra print on the outside upper pantlegs
Anthrax tee
Skull n' bones earcuff
I still love my metlulz and make no qualms about paying homage to my Hessian past! And for the record,it was Gish that completely got me out ofmy Hesh days

I have no heart apparently

Although I suppose I don't really care about that.

I never really understood the angsty and/or bleeding heart and/or rebel, thing.

And, I don't trust people that get emotionally involved in causes or beliefs.

This seems to be the most common experience and the one that disgusts me the most.

Funnier when I met a guy who straight-edge back when I was about 16 and now takes all manner of drugs and totally rips on people that are 'too square' not to.

Does someone saddened by the slaughter of innocent people or animals automatically make your not to be trusted list?

I'm not talking about the emotional response to something. But rather when emotion plays into the decision making that follows. You can say that that makes you sad, but if you're going to do something about it then you first have to set the emotions aside and use cold intellect to determine the most effective course of action, and also to ensure that you don't cross any lines yourself in what you do.
