i don't know anything about the ft meade area itself but you will be about halfway in between baltimore and dc.

from my personal experience dc has a lot of rock, indie and electronic ish music, as well as rap and hip hop at their shows/clubs. many really good bands go through the 930 club, unknowns and bands on the radio alike. pretty much all variations on rock.

there are also smaller clubs like the black cat and the rock n roll hotel that play host to the dancier and indier kinda music. if you want to, you can arrange to play at the black cat yourself.

in balitmore there is a strong hardcore scene as well as a hippy/druggy/folk thing goin on. that's what the hipsters do.

hopefully ft meade will have its own little scene, most likely spill out from baltimore and dc so i'd expect a variety at the very least. if not baltimore/dc are under and hour's drive away.

I've lived in MD for 37yrs, and I know little of the current scene. In Bmore, there's lots of clubs and places to play music. There's definitely different pockets of scenes. Just make sure you get the right one, or else you'll end up dead. srsly

Use this map to find out where all the murders in Baltimore occurred this year. :thumb:

i passed through maryland once on the way up north. All i remember seeing was some black dude walking down the street with the bottom of his shoe flapping and eating a banana.

Sounds about right.
Also, remember that where ever you may be, you are never more then 2 blocks from the ghetto.

I'm partial because I grew up like 20 minutes from there, but I think things are pretty good around here. Baltimore has a pretty good diverse scene for almost anything you like, and has a few places that will cater to underground/up and coming type stuff. There's sort of a leveling off of the type of bands that stop in the area, like "national" acts usually will hit up DC rather than Baltimore. I just hate driving in DC.

Well I’m about 20 miles west of FT. Mead,
There are a couple of clubs in Laurel and Bowie that have live music now and then.

As every one else has already said, B-more and DC have a larger selection to choose from.

Most murders in B-more are drug related, walk up and shoot them in the head, no drive by crap, so no collateral damage.
