Hey math nerds

Post by futuresailors »

I've been trying to help my girlfriend with her math homework, but haven't done more than arithmatic in 5 years...
Anyways, her book is a piece of shit, soooo...
Finding dx/dt
let's say we have y^3=16x^2
x=4 and dy/dt=2

I'm sure there's some simple process, but all I could figure is that you need to chain rule that shit...
Halp?

ughh it's been 2 years for me since i did this but i'll try..
so ...

y=(16x^2)^(1/3)
dy/dx=(1/3)*{(16x^2)^(-2/3)}*32x
so if dy/dx=(dy/dt)*(dt/dx)..
then dt/dx= (dy/dx)/(dy/dt)
so dx/dt = (dy/dt)/ (dy/dx)
Then plug in those numbers and stuff and solve I think??
