i pretty much agree with this.

i dunno if i agree with banning it even for religious reasons though. that's sort of tricky.

I definitely agree. To make a religious practice illegal, whether you agree with it or not isn't going to fly. It just seems like it's going to bring up the inevitable "well if that's illegal, why isn't this, or this, or this, illegal?!" shitstorm.

I had a circumcision, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

well, female circumcision isn't close enough i'd say. like, it's not even really 'circumcision,' they sometimes hack off the clitoris and the labia. it'd be similar if male circumcision also cut off the tip of the penis.

i dunno though. if female infant circumcision somehow was as harmless (relatively harmless i guess) as male circumcision then i'd probably say yes.

Yeah, see... this is the only case of voting for the ban of circumcision, and they're letting the people of one city vote for it. And if they don't vote for it... well, that's a pretty leftist city.

It's not exactly the same thing... given how wide-spread the anti-islam proposals have been. Here in Tennesse.e, they spent weeks in court trying to prevent a Mosque from expanding... trying to prove there was a zoning issue because "Islam isn't a religion."

Islam and Judaism both require circumcision. they're walking straight into a free-exercise-of-religion constitutional claim that is unwinnable. and better yet, contradicting their own politically-correct tenets to do so; if you're going to Save the Foreskins, you're prima facie going to have to discriminate against Muslims and Jews, and by doing so surrender the PC shibboleth that All Cultures Are Equal And Must Be Respected. the zoning problems of one mosque in Tennessee are of questionable relevance to this.

My point was that legislation against Islam specifically is very widespread, but this is one city, and the people are voting on it.

Plus, they -are- cutting off the end of a kid's dick. Technically, if I see my neighbor mowing the lawn on Saturday, according to the Bible, I should kill him. But that would be illegal. Lots of things in religious books are illegal.
