Dude. I come from Racine, Wisconsin. It sounds ridiculous, but after dark you CANNOT take a walk in the city. Almost everyone I know has been robbed, shot, or stabbed. Including my two younger brothers who still live there. Both robbed and jumped in the last 3 months. One of them was even shot at. My mother was drugged and robbed a couple years ago. Her boyfriend was robbed and stabbed in the chest around the same time. I moved to Milwaukee in 2002, but two weeks before I was jumped for the third time in 4 years. I beat the shit out of both of the dudes, but not without having to get my glasses broken and my blood all over the pavement.

other = Africa. in the north you've got OPEC, Libya, Sudan, internecine warfare between nominally Muslim dictatorships and various Islamist transnational military organizations, and the Sahara. in the middle you've got the whole mess with Cote d'Ivoire, the various former Congos, Liberia, Nigeria, and everything else, intractible tribal/ethnic conflicts that always result in unspeakable brutality and attempted genocide, equally brutal Islamic religious aggression, Ebola, and killer lakes full of carbon dioxide. and in the south you've got SA as the best-case scenario with Mugabe and his equivalent always waiting in the wings, as the burgeoning population chips away at the last of the wildlife. the people--or perhaps the cultures--seem perpetually trapped in an Iron Age existence that's impervious to modernity. all in all, when i look at Africa i think "i can see why mankind spread out across the world and got the fuck out of there as fast as they could."

Really, Racine? Kind of makes me glad I live in a small town.

Yep. I used to live on the second most gang-ridden block of Racine too. That place is unpleasant.

i suppose you can look at it thus. on the other hand, the US hasn't elected a Berlusconi or an Allende; we've not had a Le Pen, a Zhirinovsky, or an Oswald Mosley as a serious national figure, nor a Chavez or a Lula, and haven't had a racialist as a major politician since the salad days of George Wallace forty years ago. we've not appointed a rock star with no real knowledge to a major Cabinet position like Australia did with Peter Garrett. we haven't even had the equivalent of a George Galloway or a Red Ken Livingstone. all in all, i'd say the US is looking pretty good in the whackadoo politician comparison.

What was wrong with Ken Linvstone? He did a decent job by all accounts....

George Galloway is a tard though.
