Sweet makeup.

I just watched Rainer Werner Fassbinder's The Third Generation last night. I wasn't paying suuuper close attention, but I have a feeling I still would have had trouble following it during the first third. Things started making a lot more sense eventually, though - I liked some of the uncharacteristically suspenseful (for Fassbinder) quick-edit stuff.

Seen any good movies lately?

Excited about watching Stalker tomorrow night. Or whenever I have like 3 hours.

I remember thinking that movie was fucking incredible, but I haven't seen it in like five years.

Also, there's a hilarious scene in The Third Generation in which one character tells another about a "mess" of a Russian film he's seen recently - it was Solaris.

I've had Stalker (and Solaris) on my to-watch pile for ages. Should really put some time aside to watch them.

Watched the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2 the other night, major improvements were made I feel.

Watched Sophie's Choice a little while ago. Goddamned Meryl is amazing....I'd hit it...today even. Black Swan was alright, the Wrestler was WAY better.

I was just thinking about how much I hate campy horror movies. I just don't see what's intentionally shitty, and was jokingly shitty. It's all just shitty. I don't think I ever saw a horror movie and thought, "Y'know that was a really thoughtful, well-made film." Except maybe Cube. I should check me out some Hitchcock. Oh well, exploitation genre is exploitation.

You know what's amazingly shitty though? The Room...

You should watch the documentary Nightmares in Red, White, and Blue. It's a great doc, and can help you explore the horror genre and find some references to movies that you may enjoy. It's analysis of American horror over the years and they discuss all the different types out there and their commentary on American culture.

I just saw this last weekend and I was falling out of my chair. Or maybe I just thought I was falling out of my chair, I was eating mushrooms. But anyway, it was fucking hysterical, not at all what I expected.
