well Devi's avvy kinda led me to believe this.
anyway I just found the entire Armitage OVA on youtube here!
I love cyberpunk and dystopian animes, and i first saw this one when i was maybe 10 years old so it has that sentimental value as well as being awesome.

heres the first of the first episode

[ devi edit : gotta make sure it's just the youtube url ending at the youtube code... this stuff "&feature=related" stopped it from embedding ]

Well I was into InuYasha, and then got into Last Exile.

You *must* check out TengenToppa Gurren Lagann! Best series I've seen!

Dubs are available, but the voice acting in japanese is so great, I recommend the subed versions.

BEBOP!

I've never been that hugely into anime... and all these damn (nearly all at least partially mentally under-developed) "otakus" in the world have sort of scared me away from be open to more of it and admitting I enjoy some of it... I don't even mean the "BIG" anime fans... I mean the frighteningly, pathetically and INSANELY obsessed types... YOU KNOW THE ONES...

But I love goofy, absurd, and overly cutesy shit like Excel Saga and Azu Manga Daio (SP?)... And I recently saw a short movie called Dead Leaves (I think?) which was completely weird and awesome.

Speaking of Lain... I never did get to watch enough of it to form an opinion... I only saw a handful of episodes out of sequence when it was on Tech TV... My older sister seemed to really be into it for a while, though... Like... She had a fucking WALL SCROLL... and she's never really been (or seemed to be) that big of an anime fan. :idk:

yeah i know exactly what youre talking about those idiots tend to ruin it for everyone.
cosplaying is cool once in a while, but when you try to physically and mentally alter who you are to be more like some character THEN its going a bit far.
not to mention their damn elitist attitude "oh you dont know who so and so is? well then you dont know anything"

and yeah i agree; Bebop is fantastic :D
have you seen Samurai Champloo?
its by the same dude and is equally as good, the sound track isnt as amazing but its still really really good.

devi ever wrote:Nothing has ever beaten Serial Experiment Lain and FLCL... though recently I was very entranced by Origin: Spirits of the Past

... and of course I'm a big fan of Nausicaa and everything Hayao Miyazaki has done since.

Interestingly enough, I remember Nausicaa from as far back as when I was around five or six years old... so technically the first anime I saw. I'll never forget first seeing the lead character try and prevent the big bug creatures from trying to cross the ocean of acid and her boots being burned... or something like that. I need to watch it again. It's been a while.

I love cyberpunk, dystopian and psychological animes, and S.E.L has been reccomended to me MANY times, im gonna have to check it out soon.
FLCL is fantastic as well, i'm sure you like The PIllows if you like the series, right? :thumb:
you might like Dead Leaves, I've not seen it yet myself but ive heard alot of amazing stuff about it.

RayT what'd you think of it?

on Miyazaki stuff the only ones ive not seen are My Neighbors the Yamadas and The Cat Returns.

first anime i saw was Gundam 0083, i mustve been new-ish then kuz i saw it when i was 5 or 6!!!
still love Gundam to this day :)

ew, yeah, ELITIST Spastics... Even worse...

I never knew Samurai Champloo was by the same person. I never have seen much of it. only a couple of episodes all the way through, but it seems good from what I have watched.

FLCL is deffinitley up there, and speaking of Dead leaves, it was written and/or animated by some of the same people... It's much more nonsensical and weird than most of FLCL... Basically, you have no idea what's going on until 3/4ths of the way through it. But it's pretty funny... (I'll just tell you there's one minor character who's head is a pair of testicles... or a penis... or something... I don't really know.)

Azumanga Daioh is totally for girls... 10 year old girls... but it's still hilarious.
