Hey St. Louis ILFers! We've noted that there are lots of locals on the forum, so I thought it would be great to post about things going on around town, our projects, cool local bands, etc. So here's some stuff:
Killer Vintage is carrying EQDs now.
You should check out Volcanoes (
http://hugevolcanoes.bandcamp.com); they're like a noisy DFA1979. They're playing at Lemp Arts tonight and hopefully with us soon.
We (The Otto Modest) have several gigs coming up: Cicero's Wed 4/6 w/ a bunch of other bands and some weird PJ party at El Lenador that Saturday w/ a couple other bands. You can check us out at the link, and on Facebook and Twitter. We're kinda/sorta looking for a drummer if anyone knows anyone.
So... What do you guys have going on?

I was planning on going to that show tonight - The Skull Defekts with Daniel Higgs, Zomes, and Volcanoes. I'm still getting over an ear infection so I can't say for sure that I'll be there, but I want to. The Skull Defekts' new album is fantastic.

Yeah, I need to check those out, too. Not sure if I'll make it in time, though; we have practice.

QOTSA on Tuesday, I've been looking forward to this for a long while now! Setting Josh and Troy up with some Pharaohs!

Won't be there, but I will be at The Raveonettes and Black Angels.
Which reminds me, Old Rock House is now giving out free tickets for touring shows to members of local bands.
Also, last night's show was fuzzlicious.

I didn't make it to last night's show. Got home and just crashed instead of going out. but I do have tickets for these shows, so I should be at them:
4/5 - QOTSA @ Pageant
4/6 - Kool Keith @ Firebird
4/8 - The Raveonettes & Tamaryn @ Firebird
4/23 - Lightning Bolt @ Luminary
The Black Angels (4/22) and Black Lips (4/21) are definite possibilities as well.
I'm going to be very tired next week.

Awesome, I didn't even know about the Lightning Bolt show, I'll be headed to that for sure.

Yeah, we have two shows the week of the Raveonettes show.
You guys should also check out my friends This City of Takers and 11 Or So, if you get the chance.

Apparently I need to check out StL.* It's where the cool kids hang out. Or something.
(* Milwaukee is pretty cool, too. I haven't met up with any of the Wisconsin ILFers yet, but soon, soon..)

so do you guys know of any cool gear shops I should check out? I'm in the county so the closest gear shops to me are guitar center and guitar center.
fazio's (ellisville) - they have a lot of stuff, but most of it isn't that interesting. they do carry a lot of allparts stuff, which is nice if you need a new switch or something.
killer vintage (the ivanhoe one) - I just checked this one out yesterday. very cool store, lots of awesome old stuff.
mojo's (edwardsville) - I just checked this one out yesterday too. a few nice brands that aren't everywhere else - traynor, rivera, rickenbacker, budda. seemed like a pretty decent store, but a long drive for me.

Killer Vintage on Delmar is pretty cool. Eddie's in Maplewood is super top notch in the amp/guitar dept, sort of snooty in there though. Pedal selection is just so so, which sucks. Can't think if much else that's worth a shit.

I've read some pretty bad things about Eddie's customer service. I do like to browse their website sometimes, though.
