Any fans of Port (wine) here?

I've come to be quite the admirer of a decent port. I'm no expert by any measure, but I knows what I likes.
I'm digging the Cockburn's recently. Haven't had anything really expensive, but I did pick up a bottle of their 2002 ruby a few months back, and it was *very* good.
There is also a local NJ winery that does a port-style wine called (what else?) Jersey Devil. It's not bad for $15 a bottle.
So sound off if you're a port lover.

I Love a good port! I actually prefer White & Ruby port though but I don't see them in the shops too often. I went to portugal and did port tasting, that was brilliant, I got absolutely shit faced

Yes! White port is really amazing. There was a wine show here last summer, and one of the vintners had a white port for sampling. It was exquisite. But you're right that they are uncommonly seen for sale.

Only ever had port at Mass(not Catholic, but Anglican, which means I'm Catholic but I believe in divorce and birth control lol) But I definitely like the taste of it. And it's even the rotgut shit. I'll have to look into this further

For my birthday a few years back, my wife got me two bottles of Taylor Fladgate - one ruby, one tawny. That was some mighty nice stuff... that was what really got me into it. I'm the only one of my friends who is, though, which means I don't get to have it as often as I'd like. But one of our good friends is a wine rep, which means we often have a few good bottles on hand. Right now I'm looking at a '95 Warre's Quinta Da Cavadinha, and a Ferreira Dona Antonia Reserve. Both sadly unopened. I may have to remedy that tonight.

Yeah, huge port fan. I'm more a tawny man, myself. Fonseca's 10 and 20 year tawnies and Warre's Otima are both great, and the older Taylor Fladgates are superb. My wife bought me a 40-year-old bottle of Fladgate for our wedding.

I've been thinking about trying to get my hands on a nice Colheita when I have a little spare change.

I definitely dig the tawnies. How "nice" are you thinking for that Colheita? I could see if my rep friend knows of any good deals around...

Well, money is tight at the moment. But when I get tawnies, I'm usually looking in the 10-20 year range. So that would be the age range of Colheita I'd be looking for.

The good thing about Port is it's not nice at all to get hammered on quickly. It forces you to enjoy it.
There's generally at least one bottle of Tawnies in the closet.
