http://interactive.nfb.ca/#/pinepoint It's about this mining town called pinepoint, which existed between the 60s to the 80s, and the entire town was abonanded after the mines closed. This is the coolest project you'll see, funded by the national film board of Canada.

That was really great. Thanks for posting.
Kinda reminds me a bit of Centralia Pa., it's an old coal mining town that's now gone due to an underground coal mine fire burning since the 60s. The town was condemned and all the buildings removed except for a few people that decided to stay, only a hand full now. There are a ton of youtube clips and also a movie about it but it's more about the town, less about the people.
http://www.thetownthatwas.com/trailerI was there a few years ago, no buildings just overgrown lots and a hilly smoldering landscape. Gives you a unsettling and sad feeling walking around knowing it was once a thriving town.

Cool concept. Way too "Our Town"-y to me. It's just senseless nostalgia. He only likes it because it's old and he doesn't have any bad memories associated with it. His material is a very selective collection of memories taken during the happiest periods and saved to maintain an enduring, positive emotion of one specific time. Every time period has the same sense of community. It's just impossible to perceive while you're in the thick of it. People want to blame it on technology or the speed of the world today, but it's just that they're too stupid and stubborn to step back and see it.
