Blame technology, says famed Harvard biologist E.O. Wilson. With the Internet, cell phones and worldwide communications, people are noticing events, connecting the dots more.

"This instant and global communication, it's just a human instinct to read mystery and portents of dangers and wondrous things in events that are unusual," Wilson told The Associated Press on Thursday. "Not to worry, these are not portents that the world is about to come to an end."

i pretty much agree with that. they're likely unrelated incidents with logical causes. unless they're not. i think it would be so much more interesting if they were all interconnected omens though. :!!!:

From what I understand, things like this aren't entirely abnormal...it's just that a big event (the birds) got picked up by the news services, it was an online hit, and so reporters followed that with more reporting on the other mass animal deaths (fish, crab, etc)...without making it clear enough that mass animal deaths are fairly common.

Or this could be the beginning of the end of the world.

One of the two. :)

No you're right... it's entirely normal, you gotta love the media for scaring the shit out of everyone and probably causing alot of issues in the world :)

Infact I remember a guy the news got in saying that what they were doing in a hostage crisis, was actually everything they shouldn't do and was just making it worse and probably killing people, but they went on, cause people need fear!
