House of Leaves

I know there are some fans here... so this is a thread! About leaves! And houses!

When I started reading it, I liked it. As I realized how insane Truant was, I started to think "this is turning into Pale Fire, just with more whacky fonts, BIG FUCKIN' DEAL" but by the time the Minotaur bit came about I was pretty hooked. I finished it probably a year ago, and it still sticks with me. Also of note, it scared the shit out of me! That rarely happens with anything fictitious, but there were times that I would start seeing bizarre shit out of the corners of my eyes. I don't think any other book besides The Satanic Verses has done that to me, so hooray for that.

So I guess that Poe album Haunted is related to this book? Fun Fact: I found that album on ye olde CD shelf last night, didn't even know we owned it. This is what happens when you merge music collections with a chick. Even 5 years later you still discover new things. :hobbes:

I've always admired House of Leaves from a distance.

Not that that's a help, but I hate seeing a book thread languish.

I did that for years after asking for it for xmas, and Momz obliged. Then finally I thought "okay, now is the time" and so it was. I'm interested in his other work now, most authors I love have been dead for years so it is nice to say "I have a live one!" for a change.

Make it one if you have to! Threadjacking rules. THE SURVIVAL OF THE SPECIES DEPENDS ON CROSS-POLLINATION.

House of leaves is my favorite book. I've read it four times and I always find new things in it. Definitely check out the companion album by Poe, the author's sister, which is called Haunted. It's an incredible album, with some tasty guitar tones, but it always leaves me disappointed that Poe hasn't made any more records.
