Uhhhh...
The US is about 3.6 million square miles. The moon is about 14 million or so.
edit:: Oh, sorry, I just looked at that site and see what they're getting at now. Yes, the diameter of the moon is smaller than the width of the US in miles. Sorry, I thought you were talking about area.
