My "Fun with the Goatkeeper" thread...

So I recently got a Lightfoot Labs Goatkeeper 3, and then this happened:

Image

LFO out to expression in on the Boss PS-3, using a standard TS patch lead (thereby ignoring the 5V out from the PS). That got some people asking for clips of the sequenced pitch shifting fun, so rather than clutter up other threads with this stuff, I figured I would just consolidate everything into one thread.

Example 1: Telecaster > PS-3 > GK > El Cap > Apogee Duet > Ableton Live.

PS-3 on Mode 11, set to 0 and +1 oct, GK square wave pushing it up on the 2 and 4. Pulled out most of the rest of the track but left the drums in to give it some musical context.

Example 2: Tele > PS-3 > Hyperion > GK > El Cap > Duet > Ableton Live.

[soundcloud]http://soundcloud.com/fever606/untitled2[/soundcloud]

PS doing +/- an octave, GK square wave with a 1-1-2-2 pattern. El Cap doing the 1/8 note trip single repeat for some groove, stock drum loop for context. Much more of the synth arpeggiator type sound on this one.

I will post more as I find other cool things to do with the Goatkeeper... the El Capistan has an expression input, too, so I will undoubtedly have to play with that, and there is a special fuzz on the horizon with CV input, so that should be cool!

I know Kayzer has some great GK demo vids, but anyone with cool GK content, please post up!

Killer stuff man! Gives me some inspiration for PS-5 / HR-2 shenanigans. So using a TS cable keeps the voltage from coming back out of the EXP In's on the Boss stuff? Very good to know (and makes sense...) Thanks for posting.

Love zee goatkeeper.
Short loop I made a while back, I've used it for credits/silly interludes but I want to lay down a reverb/delay drenched fuzzy solo to go over it.
Maybe I'll work on that this week

Kinda bummed I sold my pitchfactor, you can do some crazy stuff running it through the GK :omg:

The Goatkeeper is one of the few things ToneFactor has in stock right now, and I think the 15% off is good through tonight :poke:

Yeah, the TS cable just sends the 5V out from the Boss on the ring to ground. Should not have any ill effects on either the Boss or the GK, so I may get up the courage to try it with the El Capistan. I would definitely like to try out some of the other pitch shifters like the new PS-6 with this...

Good stuff, man! :thumb: Yeah, the PF is one of those pedals that is like... I kind of imagine it as the PS-3 on steroids that got hit with some gamma rays and then had a baby with Godzilla. Okay, my metaphor got a little off track there, but... yeah. One day. I think it would be insane with the GK and / or a Moog MP-201 (another thing on my "to buy" list).

Speaking of the Pitchfactor, it could handle the MotP effect quite easily, because you can set the delay and pitch interval from the get go, and then all you have to do is play the bass notes (C - Eb - Ab- F) and it will finish the arpeggio for you. The PF also has an arpeggiator mode, but I don't know how in depth it is.
