AC30 cab OCD

So, I got a nice vintage nonTB AC30 and hunted around for ages for a cab for it. Eventually got a modern Vox off a very cool guy on TGP (shipped FedEx US to Canada ended up costing less than $100 including all the import crap, which is amazing).

Then of course the OCD set in -- hey, it just doesn't look right without the black strip across the top ya know?

So...scoured around, found this thread on the vintage amp forum and went off and bought some stuff...
Got some extra grillecloth too thinking it was the same as the stuff on the head (which I think is Rose Morris) but it turned out to be not much different from the Korg stuff that 's already on the cab so I kept it in case of future repairs.

Off came the front

off came the logo

Out came a million staples

Cloth back, drew a line 5 1/4" down

Cut a groove with a handsaw (no pics)

I used a painter's level thing to push the grille cloth into the groove and pull it taught

...and subtle technique to get the gold strip in there

Yup, it took about an hour once I assembled all the bits. Northcoast sells cabs like this already but he got all weird about shipping outside the US, so fuck that I did it myself.

looks great Dev! I'd sure like to have my AC30 in a head/cab rather than a damn 100 pound combo. Oh, and that is one rusty hammer.

That looks nice!

I'm OCD about head and cab matching, too. Some jackass put silverface Fender grillcloth on the front panel of a Valve Junior I picked up recently, and I hate looking at it atop my black metal grilled cab. It sits outside the head cab now, atop a raw wood 2x10 that I threw together one afternoon and I'm not particularly fond of either haha.
