Good point. Never really thought about it but I think it's more like slang for what it does... distortion effect pedal, delay effect pedal or just effect pedal. :idk:

Depends on how you look at it, I guess.

Effect is usually a noun, where as affect is a verb. With pedals, effect is used in both cases. Like "Blend effected signal with clean signal." It should be affected.

When you affect something, you have an effect on it.

So your effects affect the signal from your mechanical harmonic sine wave oscillation device (electric guitar, to the layman).

Why is a vibrato unit on a MHSWOD called a tremolo? Just because one man (Leo Fender) didn't know any better shouldn't mean we live with his mistake.

No, "effect" is the correct word. "Affect" is usually used as a verb nowadays, and it usually means "to have an effect on something". The only way we use "affect" as a noun is when you mean someone's disposition or emotion.

EDIT:::: D'OH!! Spunkie beat me to it.

It kinda helps me to pronounce stuff phonetically.

Like if you say:

"That beer is having a harmful effect on my brain." ...it helps me to say EE-fect, and really pronounce the E like in beat and meat.

And then:

"The beer will affect your brain in a harmful way." ...pronounce it "aa-fect". With the "a" like in whack and jack.

effect : ih-FECT or ee-FECT
affect : ah-FECT or AF-ect

One is a noun the other is a verb. Easy!

That's how I do it.

Anyway.

I haven't the slightest clue as to what you could be referring to.

Srsly, though, my bad.

Also, there was no reason for me to capitalize "effects."
