Hooray for new laptop batteries!

Okay, I'm just so excited about this that I had to share it. I have an apple ibook that is turning 5 years old this month. The battery hasn't held a decent charge in probably 2 years. I've been just keeping it plugged in and its been doing fine, so I didn't bother shelling out the cash for a new battery, but lately it's just been shutting down at random, and sometimes even refusing to turn on, even when plugged in. I bought a replacement battery for $38 the other day, and now I have 5 hours of battery life, and as far as I can tell, its working like new again! Wish I had done it sooner!

Has anyone else had an exciting experience like this?

I dumped a whole pot of coffee into my ageing laptop and my household insurance bought me a brand new one. I was pretty excited about that .

Hmm, I've been thinking about doing this (I have a five year old iBook too!). I currently get about 45 minutes of battery life per charge

. The only thing is the screen hinge has gotten kind of loose so the the screen is getting wobbly, so I don't know if I should bother upgrading it. Is the battery you got an apple battery or a third-party one?

I had a huge thing about my old laptop dying last year. I went through like 10 different companies trying to find a replacement battery AND charger. Got the battery, but I couldn't for the life of me find the charger, so the whole thing was pointless.
Of course, now I don't have to worry with a Macbook Pro.

My battery is broken, so I basically have to keep it plugged in. I'd get a new battery, but I'd rather just get a new computer...

Third party all the way. The apple replacement costs about $125. I got mine on Amazon with free shipping for $38. It fits about as well as my factory battery and got a lot of good reviews on Amazon. Seems to work great!
