Expedition Electronics 60 Second Delay incoming. I was looking for something that maybe contained all my favorite features of different looping delays- the varispeed of the DOD DFX94, the long loop times and tone control on the Akai Headrush, the ability to dial in not quite 100% feedback, like the EDP or Loupe, instant half speed/reverse a la EDP and 16 second delay…
I didn’t think anything out there could cater to one so picky- but I was wrong! It’s big and knobby and has an fx loop. Very excited to dig in.

my GAS has been severely wounded. i was watching a used Eastwood Wandre Soloist but somebody bought it the day before i get paid. at $750 it was a good deal, and i never see them used. i have a hard time justifying $1400 for a new one even though Epiphone’s selling shit at $1200. oh well. at least this means that if i get a new one i’d be able to get the color i actually like.

If it makes you feel better, you probably dodged a bullet. Eastwood in my experience has been cool looking but not really cool playing- cheapy guitars with a premium because they are copies of funky designs.dubkitty wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 2:06 pm my GAS has been severely wounded. i was watching a used Eastwood Wandre Soloist but somebody bought it the day before i get paid. at $750 it was a good deal, and i never see them used. i have a hard time justifying $1400 for a new one even though Epiphone’s selling shit at $1200. oh well. at least this means that if i get a new one i’d be able to get the color i actually like.

from what i’ve seen some are better than others. and part of considering this is that if i don’t like it i’ll send it back. the used one that sold was at a Reverb shop with 7-day returns. if i wind up buying a new one that’ll be doubly important.

I love mine, I have the original version, so a few less bells and whistles and no fx loop, but it's been an excellent companion.

Not sure if it counts as GAS or not, but I've been taking my singing more seriously. In addition to vocal warm ups, cutting down on smoking weed (

Now all I gotta do is find a good echo pedal to run my voice through. Anyone got any good recs? A bitch is all ears.

Yeah.. they are a mixed bag.. I got a Hooky bass VI [shergold copy] last year..
Good neck.
Ok tuners
Shit pickup / electronics
Bridge had tapping issues in all the saddles - So I had to add locktite to all the height screws
Body was ok but by design didn't balance
When I first got it I replaced the electronics and pickup..
Played one show..
took the thing apart.. made a new body out of swamp ash that was better proportioned and put in a even better pickup
It now destroys but all that is left is the neck, tuners and bridge...
Was it worth it? for me yes.. I love that super wide neck! ALL bass VIs should be that way so you can play them either as a guitar or a bass..

The DBA vocal echo thing always sounded cool to me- but expensive.BitchPudding wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 7:59 pm

Maybe get a box that interfaces mics with any/all pedals? Eventide makes one, Pigtronix had one called the keymaster I think.
The OBNE Maw looks cool, but I haven’t used it.
The SOMA Pipe is also really cool looking- sounds like it has the potential to be way more than a vocal effect though.
Or just sell all your organs and get a Space Echo!

Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help group?
i am bubbling over with GAS and too exhausted to deal with it. there’s the rack which has been back-burnered for a literal decade and which i’d written out of my long term plans but is now relevant; there’s the Soloist question; there’s a Epiphone Uptown Kat ES at Atomic that i might trade in my AC15 and some of the more sellable pedals to try to get without much outlay. they’re supposed to have $75 in leftover trade value for me from when i sold my Rickenbacker there. i’m into this because it has honest to god Firebird pickups; i played one at Sam Ash a couple of years ago and it SLEW. i sounded like Steve Stills in 1977 (when he was heavily into Firebirds). and since it has a trapeze tailpiece a Bigsby B3 or B6 and Bob’s your uncle. something bog simple that honestly it needs. i told you guys about these years ago, and they’re still out there. and this excludes the synth/controller/ drumboxes contingent. i also really want a version of the Gibson SJ-200, which is the J-200 with the more elaborately carved and hollowed bridge design. in my deepest heart i want one of the big Lowdens, but even as someone who spent $2200 on a Gretch White Falcon i can’t imagine spending like that on an acoustic. and i’ll never get over selling my Blueridge J-45. WONDERFUL guitar, best acoustic i eVer had, but i had to eat.
and this completely leaves out the guitar projects, active or conceptualized, all the parts that have to be assembled (and in some cases need their locations figured out) and the blood, toil, tears, and sweat. guitar projects beat me up pretty good. after working over a month on the Hopf i am bloody fucking tired of it though i’m liking learning how to play it and how it responds.
and also ignores the pile of old amps that have been waiting for service. the Laney VC30 is a great amp—it was my main amp before developing problems—but emits loud BUZZes and POPs without warning. my Kalamazoo Bass 30 needs a lot of help—i bought it because it runs on 7881 power tubes—and my favorite practice amp, the Electar Tube 10 does a thing where something pops, the signal gets louder and more distorted, and the gain goes swiftly all the way up till a loud POP announces it’s gone. i also need to have a head cabinet made for the weird little Hammond organ amp Charlie gave me. and i want to expand out to a 2x12” cabinet for the Princeton, and more 15s for bass.
so as you can see, i have an awful lot on my plate, and even though i’m doing much better it’s waaaaaay more stuff than i can put any mind to getting done soon.
occasionally i wish i was still the teenager with endless energy to Make Things Happen. but that ended a long time ago. i thought i’d have the Hopf, Double Jet, and Galaxiemaster done “this year” (2024) which obviously didn’t happen. at least the Hopf is working now. frankly, i did get a bit hypomanic doing the Hopf and that isn’t helping my focus or efficiency though it let me get the fingerboard done.

Maybe time to start clearing out the pile of unused pedals.
I had a small sale of a half dozen and moved on an old project guitar. Felt refreshing.
Then I ordered some shit. hahahaah

Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help group?
There are impedance converters available from Shure and from Audix. They cost about 30 bucks and allow you to connect any dynamic microphone to any guitar pedal. Plug the pedal output in a DI box and you're back to microphone level.BitchPudding wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 7:59 pm

This is not only the cheapest but also by far the most comfortable solution because you don't need to mess with another gain stage in your mic signal like you would with the super expensive boxes like Eventide Mixing Link or Radial Voco Loco.
I have the Audix T50 but there also the Shure A85F:
www.thomann.de/intl/audix_t50_k.htm
www.thomann.de/intl/shure_a85f.htm
For delay I use my Boss DD-20. I found clean digital delays to work best with vocals, but if you're into dub, you'll probably disagree...

Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help group?
Lately I am toying with some presets I specifically prepared for noise/drone contexts and stuff is getting evil, like in this mini video, where I am controlling loads of parameters with just 1 expression pedal to create all the mess:UglyCasanova wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 6:05 am Those are some great presets, man! It's good to know that it can get pretty out there and not just do the traditional stuff well, as is the focus of most of the demos I've seen. I've already thought of a bunch of strange effect combinations and routings I want to mess with.

Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help group?
You can guesstimate it, they’re not too crazy about that. I routinely ship pedals via usps and always pick either 1 or 2 lbs…haven’t heard any complaints yet.
But otherwise, it sounds like you’re getting overwhelmed with all your musical projects. I get this because I feel this way sometimes.
Everyone has different ways of dealing with their issues, so I’m not going to tell you how to do it. But I’ll share what I do when I feel this way. I try to remember that the idea of doing all these projects is often more exciting than actually doing them all- and my fantasies of the end result are often more fantastic that the actual end result.
In short, I find it better to do things that make me happy/satisfied right now, instead of things that I think will eventually make me happy/satisfied in the future. Easier said than done, but sometimes it works.
Hope you figure it out dubs
