Thanks to them, since last Thursday, I've not had access to any funds in that account. Moreover, because I can't transfer funds from my bank account, I'm totally broke in my -real- bank account. There's about $400 in my paypal account. Would be more, but I've had to ask people to -not- pay me.

When I log in, I get this:

Image

I can't order parts to build the first run of Gnomeratrons. I can't ship pedals I already have built, and I have one pedal that needs a god damn LED-- I can't afford it. I was just about to transfer some money to my bank account when this happened.

I called them. When I finally got to a person, I missed the emotion of the machines I had been talking to. He gave me an email address-- these people have not responded.

I've sent them all the information they asked for. If you're curious, a scan of my photo ID and social security card. They asked for a utility bill too, but accepted my ID, apparently.

Seriously. Fuck paypal. The second there's an alternative, I'm switching. >.<

So, to those that have paid for things and are waiting: I'm very sorry. I'm doing whatever I can.

To paypal: Go to hell.

I had something like that happen a few years ago when I upgraded my account to merchant. They like it when you setup with checking account & backup credit card. It takes awhile for your bank to approve the transaction info that paypal sends them.
The hold up could be your bank. Hope you get it going soon that Gnomeratron pedal your working on sounds like a real bass monster.

Damn that sucks...did you not have linked cc's/bank account or is this something you run across once you're a higher volume user?
Scanning ID/SS seems like a real PITA.

I hate using paypal...

I wish people would still accept cash/money orders, but practically no one does... I really don't see the appeal of it unless you order everything for your business or whatever online.

I'd gladly accept money orders, actually.

It's just slower and there's no security in it.

Sheeeeit. that's good to know.

I think the issue of security is not such a problem, just as long as the recipient is trustworthy (as most established business-folk [pedalmakers, label owners--for which cash is usually a better option--etc] are).

I think paypal sucks for basically any small-amount transactions... which is why I prefer to send/receive cash for, like, CD's and (cheap/used) pedals I'm buying/selling.

You can send money as a gift and not have any fees, but they don't offer any protection if you do that, so it's only done between people that trust eachother. I just assume the 2.9% in the price of everything.

paypal takes 2 cents of every dollar when you exchange it to buy something
they charge you if you sell something on ebay and the person pays for it with paypal
they charge you to move your money from paypal to you bank account and its not even near instant

you sell something on ebay and it racks up some insane fees i just recently paid like 230 dollars in fees just for selling some gear

True... eBay fees + Paypal fees really add up. I don't eBay anymore because of it.

Also, sent them another email and re-submitted my info. Still nothing. :idk:

Being broke sucks hard. I just want a fucking burrito.

Ebay owns paypal...

that is all.

On a side note, I've bought stuff of HCFX by mailing a check. That was awesome.

On a related note, someone hacked my email and paypal this morning and bought 60,000,000 online poker chips. :picard:
Like really, if you're going to commit larceny, at least do it for something cool.

Yep, Paypal are bastards.

Problem is there's no competition to them I guess, yet they're relatively unregulated by any government. Sure recipe for disaster. I suppose given those things they haven't been completely awful though.
