The official great people to deal with thread

Thursday I called Aero pickups and had a nice long conversation with Larry Pollack.
I learned what he could and couldn’t do and explained what I wanted.

He told me that if I ordered he would get on them as soon as possible.

As a result of our conversation I ordered a set of Jazz 2 pickups
And this morning received a shipping notice with tracking number.

That is customer service.

I can't even begin to say how much I appreciate the builders here on ILF.
They have all been fantastic to talk with and build the best effects around.

I've quite wanted a set of Aero pickups for a while. Glad to hear they're a cool company!

Never had a bad transaction here on ILF. All y'all are classy dudes.

Though for builders (besides the ILF crew), I've had good dealings with Steve at Empress Effects and Shawn at Analogue Haven.

I found Guillaume from Fairfield, Ian from Ghost Effects and especially Alan from Mountainking nice people to deal with. I have not yet dealt with most of the ILf builders, but Lawrence is a great guy for sure as is Tom. Steve from Properboy is a very nice fella. Montreal Assembly's Scott is cool too.

Boot, who builds the B.A.Ferguson Guitars is a badass guy that continues sporadic email chattering over tonewoods, PUs and all that despite the fact that I am too broke to buy one of his great instruments. Well, for now, but he definitely has me on the hook.

Yes: to order a set of custom wound pickups and have them built and shipped over a week end!

This is a bit of a b/s/t crossover, but I've had the good fortune to buy pedals & work with builders here on ILF who aren't big enough to have their own forums. In particular:

Stanimal

McSpunckle

and

Rockness Monster

are all amazing builders who went above & beyond to get their pedals/mods PRECISELY right.

Brad Davis of Creepy Fingers is not only a rad dude, but INCREDIBLY helpful. He worked with me back when I knew next to nothing about fuzz, and helped me find EXACTLY the sound I wanted. His Tone Machine clone is still my favorite pedal. I've put it through hell, and it's still perfect.

This caught me waaaaaaay off guard. How are you familiar with Boot?
He was my go to luthier and built me a custom bass back when I frequented the Hartsville, SC area.
I was (not sure if I still am) endorsed by B.A.Ferguson Guitars for a while.

I live 5 minutes from Upton Bass. I've never visited though  To be fair, he did recently move his workshop because people kept coming in to see what it was (it was about 3 blocks down from Mystic Seaport, a big tourist attraction in the area), and he could never get any work done. So maybe I'll visit when I know he'll be less :grumpy:

All violin guys are like that... once you get past the "I'm a grumpy luthier" bit they are cool guys. I got my last bow from them and even though it was a cheap bow it had a better hair job then any bow I've seen for under $600 :thumb:

Dude, it was you who brought him to my attention! I've seen the pic of your bass posted in the let's see your guitar thread and instantly fell in love with it. So I checked out his page and liked what I saw even more. There was some raffle where you could win a guitar if you bought a Tee and i entered that. After some more looking at pics I thought, wtf lets just write this guy an email and see how much he wants for a guitar like I always wanted (think crossing a Jazzmaster with a Mosrite and all that in thinline hollow body). And what can I say? He was superhelpful, taking his time to explain tonewoods and all that, discussing ways to attach the neck to the body and so forth. Even when I told him the guitar would have to wait until the beginning of next year cause of monetary troubles, he still wrote once in a while, chatting about children, politics and the World Cup. Mail contact has sort of stopped by now but I still check out pictures of his most recent builds on FB and am certainly coming back to him when I can muster the funds for my Jazrite. True story.
