Seriously, what the hell made Mike Matthews think that it was a good idea to make all of the old school EH effects require different and wacky voltages? I lost the power supplies for both my Flanger Hoax and my MicroSynth and now I don't know what the eff I'm gonna do. I could buy the voodoo power supply but I don't have that kinda cash right now and dudely that was selling one on b/s/t a couple of days ago sold it locally while we were discussing a potential trade (damn you, money!!!).

I know the Hoax takes 18v... anybody know what the MicroSynth requires? Anybody want to buy these bastards offa me so I can get some regular ass 9v effects? It's next to impossible to find these adapters anywhere, it seems.

i agree it took me months to find a pog power supply

Try an electronics store like The Source, they've always got a ton of different power supplies with interchangeable ends and adjustable voltages, I'm sure you'll be able to find something that'll work.

Dude, I know! At one point I had a Graphic Fuzz, Q Tron, 2880, and HOG all hooked up. So many power supplies. Blech.

Even though the micro synth isn't listed on the list of compatible pedals on this page it says right on the micro synth page that this is the model number that it takes.

9.6V DC 200mA Negative Ground, that means any old Pedal supply should be fine with it.

The Flanger Hoax is 18V DC, all the pedal requirements are listed on the ehx site under each unit.

What a scheme. I recently heard that cell phone companies are being required by FCC regulations to standardize their connectors and chargers...maybe guitar pedals as well??

I don't know the engineering behind it all, but some pedals just need more juice and sound better because of it!

Hey el try analogman, he stocks all the different power supplies for EHX at reasonable prices.... I bought a power supply from him for a POG last year.... Still have it actually, would it work in any of your pedals..?

Yes, it's the old school ones, as I said in my first post. All require wall warts and all are of different voltages. Thanks, BigChief.

yes you can get 2 battery snaps, put the black lead of one to teh red lead of the next. THen the potential accross the non connected black and red will be 18V.

you can also generate 18v from 9 very easily and quite efficeintly with a small circuit using somehtign liek an ICL7660 ic. I have some if you want i could make you a small conversion board in 2 weeks when i have some time. THen you can jsut plug ina regular 9v adaptor to your pedal and the flanger still gets its 18 and everyone is happy.

In theory you could also put 3 9v in series to power the 24v.

I don't think a ICL7660 will deliver enough mA... i'm not sure on the draw of the EHX pedals but i'd imagine you'd want a LT1054 for 100mA atleast.

i think the flanger hoax draws ~ 75mA.

Ah true you did quantify your answer, I missed that.

The LT1054 is rated to 100mA, the MAX1044 & ICL7660 are only 10 according to the datasheet so yeah.
