Fred Sanford had the hotz for "the Horne". Also remember her from her role as Georgia Brown in Cabin in the Sky. And when I found out she was in her 90's at the time of her death,I was in shock. I had no idea she was anywhere near that age. RIP

i remember when Betty Carter RIP'd that fucked me up pretty hard.

Speaking of Fred Sanford,I was maybe 9 or 10 when Redd Foxx died. That bummed me out pretty bad

i remember his role in Harlem Nights. which in a roundabout way kind of paints a portrait of the nightclub milieu where Lena Horne cut her teeth. & undoubtedly. no one lives forever. but that fact she's gone & Beyonce is still here. is. IMO more than a little depressing...
