Zombie Cosmichorus. Do it.

I got the zombie cosmichorus and honestly not worth the cash. IT has like 2 useable sounds then a bunch or warbly crap that makes you sound shitty and out of tune. the "normal" chorus tones arent even really that great. Kinda kicking myself for buying one new.

There's GREAT thick chorus sounds in that pedal. Yeah, there's some vibrato-ish/warbly stuff too, I've even almost achieved an Octave sound.

It's definitely not just a chorus pedal.

Here's a picture from the "Comichorus Settings" Thread of JWAR's settings on his... this is the chorus of all chorus settings. I set up mine pretty much the same to get that thick chorus setting (I turn my Clock back a bit further then his) (ALL CREDITS TO JWAR, SORRY FOR USING THIS MAN, NOT NEAR MY PEDAL! AND YOU KNOW HOW TO ROCK IT!)

What do you use? on bass through the friggin' Hiwatt it is insane, so clear and crisp. Have not heard a better chorus tone on bass.

So tonight is my last show with Drop Electric, after tonight I will no longer be a part of the band.

For those of you not in the know the band has rapidly taken off after hiring on a manager, signing a release deal with Lefse records, as well as forming an LLC. What they would have required out of me dedication wise would have left me without the time, money and energy needed to raise my family. With the birth of my daughter imminent I felt it necessary to ammicably walk away and allow them to find someone new to fill my shoes so they can follow their dreams and path to success. It's a sad day but it also opens up many more opportunities for me, I'll now have more time to spend with my daughter when she's born and leave me with more energy to spend with my step kids especially since the oldest starts kindergarden this September. I also will now have time to start up a new project that is all ready in the works that will hopefully be the best thing I've done yet, even though we're not going to start jamming till january the drummer and fellow multi-musician who I'll be working with is all about it and all ready starting to get ideas for our visual media ;)

Today is the end of an era for me, but the first steps into a new one.

P.S. If anyone who reads this is in DC for some reason tonight come out to the Black Cat @9pm!!!!!!

thats pretty close to the setting that I use. Maybe im just runing too much amp gain. Also i get a bit of clipping. I talked to the maker and he suggested adjusting the trim pots inside, I might try that out. Im not trying to poop on the guy or the pedal, its very well made, im just having trouble getting it where id like with my personal rig is all. Ill play some more, not getting rig of it, gotta check out that thread too for more settings, thnaks dude.

OH ANCIENT, you da man, good luck with what you got goin. Sounds like you made the proper choice. Let the dad rock commence!! :thumb:

oh, im going from B flat tuned guitar with fairly hot pickups into an ENGL fireball 100.
Engl takes all my effects, while the Wizard takes an OCD clone and the Doomtrain takes a badascan from BAT.

Damn man. Tell you the truth I kinda suspected something when they posted a pic the other day that was a band photo but you weren't in it. Drop Electric is a cool band but I'm glad it was an amicable departure. Looking forward to your next project. You always have support here in NYC when you make it here to play shows.

I say keep them in...you might find that when you redo yhe wirin and pots they actually sound even better!

BTW...not to say yours are cheap and shitty...i've had some cheap and shitty ones in the past and was very surprised at how good they sounded.

Ho dare you insult my CHICKENPLUCKER!!!!
Nah man I'm totally with you on that. its all about flavor and sometimes the cheapo stuff has as much or more flavor than really expensive gear.

samzadgan wrote:ok...so on chorus...have you tried the Zakk Wylde Chorus...i have to say its one of the best chorus pedals i have ever played...and i think used they would go for the same price as the EHX stuff.

On a different note...I had a thought...granted not a great one but, here goes. Most people (including me) order their pedal board with dirt first and then modulation and delay...but if you think back to the old days when there was no effects look in amps and guitarists used their amp distortion or even boosted it with Fuzz or treble boosters etc, they always had their other effect going into the front of the amp, i.e. before dirt right?

so, why is it that when we organise a pedal board to go into the front of a clean amp we put dirt first? has anyone tried it the opposite way?

Good point. Let us know how it works out. You have me curious too, but I dont really want to tear apart my board right now. Lazy I guess ;)

Tony's old ric copy also sounds badass. The bigsby is a clone as well, It seems to be ok. I dont have a lot to judge it from as bigsbys have always been my least favorite trem system. I may modify it to work better with the 12 string setup.

Woweeeee!
This is kinda monumental. I think you will be happier in the long run. I may be way off base here but it seems like that band was steadily drifting in a direction that isn't really you.
When we got going with Flux I decided that this would be the kind of band I wanted to be in, and that there wouldn't really be any compromise on that. I didn't want to be a dictator so getting the right people became key. I' was really fortunate to get Tony and Ryder because we all share the same vision for how it should sound. It took a long time and there were def some not so fun moments searching for the right people, but in the end it was so worth it.
Stick to your guns and follow your own vision man. I'm sure your next project will be killer!

DONT DO IT! I did it quickly tonight just to hear it, my guitar sounded like a fart!

I guess there are technical reasons why it doesn't work, and now i guess i believe in the Gods and prophets who passed down the commandments of the pedalboard.

I'm not sure why, to be honest. I generally prefer pedals in the loop of an amp (so after distortion), even with a clean tone. I'm slightly worried that since my Dunwich combo won't have one I'll not like running pedals into it, but I should be OK since I won't be running a big board into the Dunwich. I'll run my bigger board into the Fryette which has a loop and takes pedals excellently. It depends on the pedals as well. Amps were also less distorted back in the day. Maybe that has something to do with it. Nick will probably be able to shine more light on this interesting topic.

conky wrote:The only vibe pedal I have had was the Malekko Vibe. It was ok, but when I had it I also had a Black Russian Small Stone that I loved loved loved. My dumbass should have never sold it to get a USA Small Stone to save a little space. That Russian one had something about it that just made it sound so much better. I love phase, its just that in all of the songs we have now I'm not really using it other than to modulate my delays.

The Malekko Vibrato is a vibrato. It's a little different than a vibe pedal. A vibe is like a chorus, phaser, and vibrato all in one, or harmonic tremolo with less volume modulation and more pitch and frequency modulation.

Great comment and awesome perspective.

Iommic Pope wrote:Ok, I haven't had time for a catch-up post in a while, but I've been lurking. I think we were talking about valve pres in pedal format last time? While expensive, I like the idea of them as big old, obscure brand, clean tube heads are relatively cheap and even buying an awesome preamp (I just prefer valve distortion, I'm pretty sure we've had this discsussion in the past, I'm aware it's one of those potentially psychosomatic things) can work out cheaper than getting the full kit and kaboodle in oz. Especially if they can be obtained second hand.
That was my 2c on that.

I like tube preamp because it's instant access to new sounds on-the-fly. All you need is one mega loud, mega clean amp with a well built FX loop and as many preamps as you want. You can create a multitude of sounds that are all portable and less money than the 'real thing'.

usually time based effects dont sound good post dirt, its a basic sound thing. Others might suggest otherwise but its something I found 2. Modulation can be depend, sometimes pre or post dirt works but one might be more appealing. Im running modulation post dirt pre delay/verb. Post dirt modulation usually sounds more intense.
