Yeah, EL34.

Didn't really care too much about finding a KT88 model.

So yeah new Soldano GTO pedals. The board on the top is just a redesign of the original. Which was originally called the 'Top Fuel' before it was released. I still think these are the best bass fuzz in the history of bass fuzzes.

so Soldano GTO pedal? sounds interesting...i gotta check it out...between this, the Ape blaster, the many Dunwich pedals and the one knob fuzz kits...i'll be broke by the end of the year!

Am I really THAT predictable?

well, I sold the OR120 for $1700 locally.

Bought a 76' DR201 for $1700 in Niagara Falls, NY (about 20 minutes or so from where I live) yesterday!
so stoked.
The guy who had it was the only owner... bought it in 76' in Germany while he was on vacation there and brought it to the states.
It has Mullards in it, brand new, was taken to the tech very recently. Beautiful amp! couldn't be more excited!

That is a fuckin nice score and that rig...man...(insert drool emoticon, if there was one)

No kidding man, I'm trying really hard to restrain myself and only get what I need for what we do. you guys are not making it easy!

One knob is definately something I'm doing, may need to restrict myself to drooling over everything else. we'll see though.

I'm kinda glad Nick isn't super fast with his production. I'd end up spending all my amp fund on the pedals of the Doom Room alone.

HA! Well I sure didn't learn 'em from Mike. He is totally against all these low voltage solid state contraptions.

Stalked? That can't be good...(note to self, back off on summit...Darren's case of stalking could make him weary...)
Soooooo, should I email you or PM you about an Ape Blaster order? Is now a good time or not really? I don't have the Electric Heat address, I've still got the Black Hand one though.

Also, fuck yes to new tube Soldano pedals. I can't remember if someone mentioned this already, but I'm pretty sure the original GTO was like 300v plate, but that's what made the fucker noisy, which people didn't like. My guess is he's solved that...? Either way, you could stick it in a loop, right? So bypassing didn't result in nasty hiss?

The stalking thing isn't a deranged fan or anything it's personal. Long story short, dude's been on the tweak for some time. I've had it and told him so. He got mad that I would have the audacity to give him the kiss off so he started pestering me. He has plenty of time for this, what with the speed 'n all. So yeah, any evidence I show of my existence on facebook will result in messages, texts, phone calls. As well as fucking messages, texts, phone calls to other people. ETCETERA. FUCK.

This is an excellent time for ordering an Ape Blaster though! You can hit up that Black Hand one, send a message here or use my main email which is dirtydrockATcomcastDOTnet

The only time I had any noise issues with my GTO is when I created a ground loop. I know not of any "nasty hiss" either bypassed or engaged.

t-rey wrote:YES. Also glad to see D back here with us. Ancient Warlocks show with Valient Thorr means NC show in the near future, right? RIGHT?

Howdy Trey! I saw ASG for the first time last night! You're the guy that turned me on to them. They were fucking killer.

I'm soooooo looking forward to playing with Lord Dying again. I love that band. Is Valient Thorr form NC? I sure hope we get over there soon!

new05002 wrote:Basically if its a properly done tube predal its a tube preamp, those are 1 in the same. But a tube pedal/preamp is going to be a costly thing, there is a power transformer ect ect so your looking at a $700+ one off item. That is not very attractive for customers.

I know the old Supercharger GTO's were $350. I wonder what he'll do for pricing on the new one.

AngryGoldfish wrote:I've always wanted to build tube pedals, and it is possible at reasonable prices. You just have to make sacrifices and do it right. Kingsley, Fryette, Faustone, Mesa/Boogie, EHX, Soldano, Budda, Hughes&Kettner all have made tube pedals in varying degrees that I believe all use either wall warts, and thus supply full voltages to the tubes, or use charge pumps like the Fryette stuff. Some of them are expensive and others not. I am of the opinion, and Nick and I have spoken about this before, that much of the money required to build a proper tube will be dedicated to custom made parts such as toroidal transformers, huge enclosures, etc., and also R&D because you need to source all these weird parts and have them made in bulk. It's worth it in the end but it's not like starting a company based around Big Muff and Fuzz Faces. It's a huge undertaking. I would love to do it myself. I feel there is a huge hole in the market for it.

I didn't know you made pedals! Also a wall wart is NOT used in conjunction with the Supercharger GTO. It has an internal transformer.

samzadgan wrote:so Soldano GTO pedal? sounds interesting...i gotta check it out...between this, the Ape blaster, the many Dunwich pedals and the one knob fuzz kits...i'll be broke by the end of the year!

Yep they've been going for some pretty nutty prices on ebay in the past few years so he decided to reissue them.

Serial Hawk opened for Weedeater and ASG last night. Sadly they had just lost their drummer about three days before being offered this show. If I'm being honest then I'm saying the new guy was rough. They're still looking though. So if you're in Seatown and a badass slow drummer look them dudes up!

Crop and Stoneburner, both of whom totally failed to float my boat on the youtubes, were RADICAL on stage. Check them out.

I was watching Weedeater and feeling funny about the drummer. I was like "I know this dude". I kept watching and watching and then he flipped a stick in a certain way and it hit me like a ton of bricks: The new Weedeater drummer is FRIKKIN TRAVIS FROM WHORES. So we ended up broing down a bunch after the set. Neither of the Weedeater dudes was around so we mostly talked about Whores. Also Weed. Anyhow, last time I saw Weedeater thay had St Vitus' drummer behind the kit. It was AWESOME. But I think Travis is a better fit.

The two best tones of the night was the dude from Crop and then Sheppard (sp?) from Weedeater. They both have an approach similar to mine.

1 - Choose favorite pickup and play only that one
2 - Stick only one fuzz in between guitar and amp
3 - Slay

Write that down. Tone secrets dudes.

stoneburner rules. thems my homies. i'm glad they won you with the live set. i'm often disappointed by bands on youtube only to find that they actually rule.

funny that they had the whores drummer. i was watching the other night. dude is a fucking beast. a crazy stick twirling beast.

ASG didn't really grab me at the portland show. not sure why, but it didn't click. the singer dude's guitar sounded awful to me, but that wasn't really the problem.

i thought weedeater's guitar tone sounded just a bit too scooped. it kind of disappeared in the band mix a bit more than i would have liked, although they sounded great together. i couldn't see, but if i were to guess i would say he had to have been playing a muff.

Yeah cheapie recent big box muff. That's the other thing. My favorite tones of the night could be had on a shoestring budget. Crop guy had some shittay ESP LP thing with no pickup in the bridge, Russian Muff and a 5150. OUTRAGEOUS. And then Weedeater guy had a LP, cheapie Muff and a plexy RI. I loved it!

I always try to get to a show as early as possible because bands surprise me all the time. If all I had to go on was live video on youtube I wouldn't even be in to my own band!

Klon video was damned funny.

Anyone in the market for the most beautiful EGC ever? Seafoam green Chessie with matching neck and headstock? $1900. How bout a DL4 with all mods from Drasp and an exp pedal? $300. Or just buy this Nash thinline tele because it's beautiful. Doom roomers can have it for $1500.

Awesome stuff. It makes me happy that you love the amp. Also, I want that Nash. Has it got Regal humbuckers in it?

Yep, Lollar Regals and they sound sooooo good too. It really is such a perfect guitar but none of my other stuff is selling so it's gotta go.

Alos, I'm still tweaking this Dunwich, everything just sound so good through it.

Friggin' rites!

I need some Moog things.

I have been looking at a Sub Phatty, but know nothing about Synths. I tried a Little Phatty and it sounded cool as shit, that's all I know. The Sub Phatty is like... $500 cheaper here or something. Can't remember.
