Captain, you want a loud ass clean amp? I'll trade you my mig 50 for your orange....

Do I want a Jcm900? Citing reasons of cheap and man-crush on LANDRIAN (black cobra).

As conky said, the later SLX version is pretty sweet, but avoid the others. They're not worth it unless you are willing to modify them.

That is AWESOME. I just read the bit about Dunwich but I'll check the rest later on.

I lkie just enough so that if you are gentle with it, it sounds completely clean, then when you smash it you get some nice grit. Add fuzz and you are in sonic destruction territory.

So speaking of fuzz. I got some quality time with the burial chamber last night and I think the new dirt chain will be Pharaoh> Darrens Ape Blaster> lstr> ocd.
I was loving how it sounded last night. The Ape blaster is a mad gain fuzz that keeps an incredible amount of clarity so having that in between the BAT pedals gives me mad low end and no mush. REALLY LIKE!

I like my cleans to be dynamic too. When I use my Telecaster and its single coil pickup, the amp is bright and percussive, but there is still a grind to the sound if I really smack the strings. It doesn't react as well to volume and tone manipulation, but finger and pick dynamics come through my Fryette beautifully. My Ibanez AR100 has pretty bold, thick pickups that really distort the amp, but I can still derive a cleaner tone by picking softly. I really like that. I really want a louder amp, though, for the times I want pure clean, because I just can't get that with my Fryette unless I turn down the volume.

Also, mad jealous of your Ape Blaster.

Ancient Astronaught wrote:Sick dude!!!! I'm glad your digging it! Alot of people looked at me weird when i ordered it with the OD after the fuzz, but when setup correctly its awesome! I still need to get my hands on an ape blaster....

Stop subconsciously trying to convince me to move to the PNW.... It's a dream of mine to move to portland or seattle. I haven't been to seattle but Portland was right up my alley, loved the atmosphere vibe and people there. But they could learn a thing or two from Florida strip clubs....

My dream is to visit Portland and Seattle. The music scene, the mountains, the access to all the adventures a man could ever want, it's a huge dream of mine. I will go there someday.

I always put my BAT fuzz pedals before overdrive. They sound sick boosting Fuck OD. Boost still goes first though.

on the subject of the jcm 900, i'm not really even that into the slx. they're better than the others, but the amp gain isn't really enough for metal. they're better than other 900's and might make an alright pedal platform, but it's kind of like if you drained all the magic out of a single channel 800 you would have something like an slx.

Yeah, I'd still ALWAYS go for an 800, even if I couldn't afford one at the time.

i've only recently understood the benefits of that! this Laney Ironheart amp has a boost switch which acts like a gain boost. Now when i run my Pharaoh side into the amp with the boost switch on, it sounds ridiculously better than before. Not that it sounded bad before, but now its almost like its come alive!

This is awesome and I wish you guys would put a band together, even if its just to record stuff and make demo's. Killer playing and sounds :!!!: I know a bands a big time commitment and you guys are busy but I'd love to hear some of that riffage fleshed out into songs.

Thanks man! I feel the same way, id love to just have a band or even jam more but all I do is work. After these few projects i got goin I may be having more time for that hopefully. Not gunna lie, the was a few seconds of the Swords freya in there hahah.

AxAxSxS wrote:Also I dont know if you guys remember me talking about the those show thing getting shut down. Dudes on fire now and is makeing the Church of the riff happen for real. He has a venue, is working on getting it ready, doing it above ground and entirely legal. There will be a $1 membership fee, and then donation based entry with ALL proceeds going to the artists. He's calling it "The Ministry of Sound" Link in my sig. Pretty fucking cool IMO. I plan on being ordained

Hes actually doing it? will he get tax exemption? This is so awesome, gunna go like his FB page now!

Oh and for tremelo string wrapping this is the way I do it. In fact I do this on every guitar just because It seems too help. dont do too many wraps! Also polish your nut slots with a string and some metal polish then add graphite or even vaseline too.

i gotta change up my chain
i been really lazywith that
ive had the badascan after od
for quite a long time now
it used to be up front
i think this week im gonna put ps6 up front
so the signal is split before dirt
johns been buggin me to give the bass rig
its own distortion for a while
im nervous how the harmonizers gonna sound
ive been able to hide it at the end of the chain
and anything that i could call "my sound" comes from that
hopefully it just makes shit more awesome

I got me a VERELLEN!!!!!! :yay:

Won on the bay for a decent price and its still in Seattle so the seller's gonna drop it off for me at Ben's so he can install a tube buffered FX loop for me and give it a once through then he's gonna package and ship it to me. I'm fucking excited. It may look simple (as in not much for an EQ  ) but I've been jamming around on our lead guitar players blackstar with the same setup on the clean channel and I love it. Plus paired witht he Skyhammer pre I'll have plenty of tonal possibilities, add on that it has a footswitch that has boosts for both the preamp and the power amp and its a mini doom head made in hell.

YES. On the Verellen and the Lebowski.

anyone try a 70's or 90's OR80 combo? one in my area for sale, a 90's one, so I'm assuming it's made by Matamp. It seems pretty cool.
I'd probably just get it to jam on in my house if I had some extra cash though.

I think you'd be mildly disappointed, as you own an OG OR.

Yeah. My buddy has a 90's Orange OD120 made by Matamp and it's pretty cool, he likes it so much that he kept that and his 72' pix only because he couldn't decide between the two. I am not sure, I guess I'd have to give it a go. Just was wondering if any of you dudes had any experience with one!
it would be kinda cool to have to mess around with in the house if I com home from work and don't want to hit the space kind of deal. If the price was right of course.
