I mean, I know all that. I was being flippant.
I guess it's like, the same sort of hatred, motivated by the desire to preserve the European culture, was present long, long before black metal. Nietzsche felt that way, Wagner felt that way. And look what fruit that cultural climate bore.
It's just astonishing that white kids in the 1980s, could make music about feeling like their culture was being destroyed, after the Holocaust. Last time I checked, the ratio of Aryan kids killed in a European genocide to non-Aryan kids killed in a European genocide was, like, 0:11,000,000.

Im very sure its because they grew up in the shadow of the events of WW2, during the cold war, and during a time that saw a large influx of migrant workers from the middle east occupying spaces and industries with long histories of traditional european occupation.
Not to mention the fact that christianity is an invasion from the middle east, spawned by the jewish race, and i mean do i really need to explain this further???
The draw of black metal for me has long transcended the people that created it and its original purpose. On one hand its this grandiose ubermensch power display. Its got brutality and grace and mysticism and ritual, while at the same time this frailty and hopelessness and icy fragility.
At its heart its the "feeble screams" of those without hope and without understanding and without belief. Its someone gone feral, curling up their nose and making claws with their hands and sticking out their chest. They try and create these sigils and these banners and they pose with swords and armor in this bleak hope for some sort of rally or some sense of strength but after all its like Varg himself says... theres no strength here. Theres no power that they're giving you.
At the end of the day black metal is something sad and something incredibly human. At the end of the day its more heartfelt than anything saetia ever gave us. This isn't the imagination of the dark room or the flirting temptation of the dark room, this is the dark room itself and the person trapped inside it. This is the delusion of grandeur that accompanies real loss and real pain and real humanity.
And that is exactly why i think its wrong to divorce the art from the creators. Hateful or racist or not these kids burned churches and murdered people out of the desperation and the drive that created this music. Without that its not the same. Without that its nothing, commercials for spooky t-shirts and greasepaint.

Five-Percenters as in Nation of Islam Five-Percenters?
Space... I want you to know from the bottom of my heart, that post was beautiful. It perfectly encapsulated everything I love about the genre and more. Seriously, I'm slow-clapping in my heart reading that shit.

Yes. This. +1.

And this is EXACTLY what I was saying about HP Lovecraft in that other thread wherever it was.
You could say instead, "Without that it's nothing. Some Funko Pop Cthulhu figure and a popular Facebook group."
