I missed the oppotunity to buy it new when it was on the market a few years ago.
You really did have a great year. I followed it. Fingers crossed for your guitar.

I don't even have a DAW at home, I'm a 4-track goblin. At the jam space we use ProTools, but as I alluded to I'm not really happy with the results or rather - the workflow - there.

Not too worried about neighbors, there's plenty of space around me and concrete walls. But I'll have to insulate a bit, drums are loud... I'll post pics when it's set up but it will probably take another year.
Love means never having to....
Of course, I was in jest 2 m8. #banterbros
I get it. I’m reading this as you’re super efficient and kind of just want the bare bones. Albini influence?
Fellow 4 track goblin here. I feel you on Pro Tools. My best friend is actually proficient at it. I love learning but... for the choons I want to make.... no way I’m learning that  Not a dig on it. Just a lifestyle choice. So I get where you’re coming from.
4 track is not wack. Except for having to deal with all those tapes. I probably could do with a DAW of some kind, but I'll tackle that when I get another computer up n running.

Albini.. while I do love the guy, his sound is much more hi-fi than what I'm going for. Of course he has waaay more mics, equipment and space, so I'm never gonna be on that level. More inspired by that Calvin Johnson (Beat Happening) quote about "appropriate technology", don't remember exactly but something about not going above and beyond what is needed to document what's going on. Being as I'm not part of any cohesive scene my point of reference is mostly bare-bones emo stuff.

Wish I was super efficient but usually I'm not, just don't want too many obstacles in my way. Which is ironic because my place is a mess.

I’m quite pleased with Marshmallow myself. That and the Behringer Model D. Whoa! Any synth really. Warp on a pitch shifter pedal is so special.

If you can find a good deal.... get the Geiger Pro. My only issue with it is, it was supposed to kill my dirt lust... it didn’t. It that’s on me  :snax:
I gave both Hax 2 and Geiger Counter Civilian Issue some thought, went on Reverb and bought myself a . . .

Yellowcake Lida Machine.

This is because I'm thinking of balancing (or putting to one side for a while) the Sonic Koalas screeches and squawks with some more "properly musical" ambient nonsense. I will have to get myself another Particle or maybe something more simple to have more delay options but otherwise I'm done*

. . . and a Dod Rubberneck.

This was a moment of silliness. I don't need that  I think they're very cool but the guitars I already have are nice and they do the job.

In 2019 I got a new guitar and a new amp. I'll try not to spend too much on gear in 2020. I like what I have at the moment.

The only thing I might look for is a good modulation pedal as I'm not really in love with my SubDecay Starlight MkII.

I wonder if I could go all year without hitting the bypass switch on my Rat. Trying to be less of a tweaker, more set and forget.

If I get a band going I’d like a 4x12 for my Sound City 50r. And it would be wise to get a tuner pedal for live use.

I’m pretty burnt on reverb and delay, might look into modulation pedals or crank up the depth on my Memory Toy and use it as a de facto chorus.

Really want a Peavey T60 but that is probably more than a year away at this point.

New album is taking shape nicely, and I feel like I am able to do everything I want to with just a few of the pedals I have. Sorry, Sharky. Maybe you could get me to gas for something? What would you like to see me own?

My interest is peaked by some of the stuff Drod has been talking about building though, small solid state amps in particular. Would still like to try a EHX 16 second delay or some vaiant thereof as well.

Oh, and there's a few people I've been talking about collaborating with musically, hope to get some more projects going next year.
I would like to see you collaborate more. That sounds great. Drod is always cooking up cool stuff. I’m really not an “amp guy” but would love another small solid state thing. These days my lunchbox amp gets the most use.

I would like to see you get more into software and make some oscillating fuzz meets footwork/juke/night-core choons.

If you are considering a delay, I think you would get a lot of mileage out of a time factor. I scored one this year for $180. No regrets. Only get it if you can get it that cheap.
Hello, Sharky, and thank you for the reply. A good buddy of mine have gotten into modular over the past couple of years, and we've been talking about doing noise rock with breakbeats living up to the Big Beat Manifesto. So that collab might happen this spring.

I'm not an amp guy either. Fun fact: a lot of the iRerror stuff is recorded with my small Fender Mini Deluxe battery amp. Love that thing. So small solid state amp is intriguing to me too.

Not sure I want to get into software. I do use Ableton, but since I work on my computer all the time, I like music being something I do out there in the real world with my mind as the interface or whatever bullshit.

Hm. The Boss DD-200 has been on my mind, the Time Factor is probably a good alternative. But then I'd have to deal with menus and modes and all the stuff that makes me go back to the AD-9 every time I test fancy delays. But we shall see. Appreciate your idea regardless.

I do kinda want to try some other instrument, but still not sure what. A sampler? Drum machine? Recorder?

I kind of want an aluminum neck too but not sure what I’d use it with. I love how they sound.

Also I’m like you Eivind. I could be recording a ton of stuff but I’m so focused on writing material that I kind of don’t care. It’s weird. I should record the stuff though. I just finalized lyrics for a song, figured the chorus out. It’s a very, very simple song but I think the lyrics are what is powerful. That’s where I really excel. I love writing.

What could you possibly have left to sell. Last I checked you had three pedals and a bag of Doritos?
What’s going on with the visualization? Intrigued! :snax:
The HX Stomp is an amazing piece of gear! Now with HX, Timeline, Mercury7 and the Zoom Multistomp, I don't need anything else, when it come to delays, reverbs and modulations.
I already used it few times live as part of my standard Pedaltrain JR setup (mainly as a multi reverb unit, together with the Timeline for delay/echos), or for a small noise setup (for some delay, revs and modulations), and I couldn't ask anything better!

1. Down/rightsize my guitar collection, which basically means selling my old Ibanez a/e and Strat and coming up with a decent a/e (or a pup solution for my Guild), as well as a second guitar I like that I can set up for lower tunings - likely a second JMJM.

2. Come to terms with my board. I've spent the last two years assembling a ~20 pedal board, most of which are delays, and now I'm (nearly) ready to call it done. Just a couple more tweaks. I swear. One more delay pedal and some kind of pitch shifting ought to do it. Uh-huh...

3. Basically my real gear goal is to stop thinking about gear so much, stop spending so much money, and focus on playing (which is its own subset of 2020 goals). And that's actually secondary to the goal of not using focusing on music to avoid focusing on more pressing things, i.e, my marriage and professional career.

4. But I would really love to upgrade my Katana 50 to an Artist, to go alongside my Gemini in the stereo setup.

Not very interesting to anyone but me, I expect, but it's been helpful to write this up.

2019 was crazy for me where it came to my modular rig... I sold and bought something like $10K of stuff (it balanced out pretty well) and rethought my whole philosophy something like 3 times.

I'm really happy with where that landed though, so in 2020 I plan to make only minor changes to my synth gear... but I've got my eye on pedals now.

Right now I'm down to two: Tensor and Arquitecto. I'm thinking about Particle, Dweller, maybe a Freqout to see how it deals with synths. I'm really tempted by Meet Maude and/or a couple of other delays (like... 6 of them, I'm kind of a delay junkie :D ). And I really like the demos of Slö I've heard...

So there are gonna be several battles in 2020 of temptation vs. reminding myself I already have a lot of good delays/reverbs in Eurorack and software.
