Apparently caramel rolls are a regional thing too? Can anyone else confirm or deny the availability of caramel rolls in other parts of the country?
Minnesota has caramel rolls. Whenever I go to my Grandma's farm or to my friends cabin I try to stop here
http://tobies.com/ to get some.

Not that I've seen. I'm down with a Chicago dog any day, but if you're serious about getting a specialty from the city whose name I dare not speak, you gotta go with an Italian beef.
Dipped w/ hot peppers.
(Philly cheese steaks are garbage compared to that)
I forgot about Italian beef. I could never get past the neon relish on the Chicago dogs to try one. Hot Doug's however was a weekly stop when I lived there. I miss that place.

I ate there once, but didn't get the baby. Food was good!
If you like Mexican you have to hit Senor Moose in Ballard and Rancho Bravo on the Hill.

You've got me greyboxed so you never see when I feel your posts, but I feel this.

So I talked about NB and Montreal, but not about where I live up north.
I live in a Cree community and we eat a lot of Native food, like bannock (as many variations on this as there are people making it),
Indian Tacos (tacos on bannock, absolutely better than regular tacos),
moose stew,
and
nisk or roast goose.
Those are just the things I like! A lot of people here eat bear meat and bear grease, beaver (I know what you're thinking, but no, like, actual beaver, as in, the aquatic rodent), caribou (very gamey), and ptarmigan (very tough, think Cornish hen).
Bannock is quintessential comfort food.

I gotta mention the Friday Fish Fry. That's just classic.

This thread pleases me. I wish there was decent mexican food here...
Caribbean:
Goat Roti
Shellfish (aka cowfish) pate- fried dough stuffed with seasoned fish. But they don't have pictures of those online because they're that underground ish. So here's a saltfish one:
VT:
Sugar on Snow
NY:
Mutated rat in a hobo urine jus
CZ:
Chlebicek aka open faced sandwich
Svickova- weird cut of meat threaded with pork fat, served with a vegetable gravy, whipped cream, and cranberries and a side of steamed bread
Spanish birds- beef or pork stuffed with "bacon", eggs, pickles and a hotdog

Yup. Pizza and Beer are out for me. I lived for close to two decades on Pizza, Beer and Burritos. Fucking Gluten. And I am not a trend hopper. Terrible, unforgivable things happen when I eat it now...

Ahem, Excuse me while I go all out Miami-hispanic on your asses.
Cuban sandwiches
Ropa Vieja
Vaca Frita
Colombian Hot dogs
Actual Churros (not that shit you get at malls, I'm talking like grease dripping sticks of delicious heart attacks)
Chicharon (Ya'll Americans with your pork rinds nonsense ain't got nothing on this shit)
Sergio's (one plate in that restaurant can feed a family)
Versaille's
Tienditas (fucking tiny Hispanic cafes were you can eat a whole fantastic meal for like $3 and change...as long as you only speak Spanish to them)
There's more but I forget, Miami is a weird sleazy melting pot of cultures.

Alternately: babies as big as a burrito. Solid marketing copy for the late-night cannibal crowd.

Gat damn. Hotter climates + diverse populations = killer cuisine. I've got nothing on that stuff. We do fatty comfort foods well up here in the great white north (speaking generally about those who've posted here), but I have yet to find my go-to Cuban sandwich joint in Flint, MI.
