Miniberator update!

Today we received the first article of the assembled pcbs, something we've been working for and waiting for for months now.

I've built the final prototype and tested it thoroughly and it's perfect. Now we're less than two weeks away from having a big supply of pcbs that I don't have to populate and thank you again to Steve Bragg for all the help with this process.

We've arranged the drilling of the boxes, the powder coating of the boxes, we just have to figure out the screen printing of them now. I think we'll be able to send some of these out in December if everything keeps going smoothly. *knocks on wood*

Nych, these minis aren't really a Dr. Scientist/Empress collaboration or anything but Steve did help me in a really big way. He provided me with all the contacts and info I needed to have these boards manufactured for us. It's quite a process getting quotes and working with the pcb manufacturers on the assembly of a product like this.. it takes months and months and a small fortune to get started and you need to know exactly what you're doing, which I didn't, and Steve helped me through every step of it. He taught me all the questions to ask, what services and features were important, what to watch out for, what kind of money to expect to pay, just all the details of arranging this kind of project. I'd never done anything like it before and it would have been really tough without him, thank you again Steve!

In the end we decided to use the same company that Empress does for their pcbs, RMF Design in Ontario Canada. And in about a week we'll have our first production quantity of the pcbs. And then we'll continue waiting for our drilled boxes that I took too long to order. *smacks forehead*
