I mean, I get the thrust of the sentiment, if you will -- especially if you're contributing something under a primary moniker you use, not everyone wants to have their discogs entry updated with BIG PULSING DICK DRONES Vol. 1 or whatever. That's totally fair, and a reasonable point of consideration.

Apologies for word choice as I definitely didn't mean to imply other people didn't/don't take their music seriously. What I meant to say is that boners, etc doesn't fit in with my personal artistic aesthetic and that I would make the choice to not contribute under that heading -- also acknowledging that it would only be my loss.

No worries dude -- I kind of got on a roll there (plus Sledgehammer). And I'd rather change the name and keep full participation than be a hardline dick about the title.

I wasn't trying to be a dick

Wont pretend like I don't have dirty thoughts and a silly mind.
But there's something painfully obvious and lame about calling a group compilation project "boner" anything. Either too middle-school memeish or hackneyed af and trying
way too hard. Like shoehorning-in puns and other forms of flavorless low-hanging fruit.
Also I just bought the Anunnaki Transmitter, which I will likely use for this comp. Because I'm new at this, I don't want to transmit the wrong signals, where a giant humanoid makes contact and gets rapey.

So all in favor of WAA AND OTHER EPHEMERA, then?
Also, using my extraordinarily basic math skills, we're looking at 130 minutes of sounds right now. And that's on the conservative end of the spectrum. Get hype.

Maybe the title for this ILF drone comp should be "DronerBoner"?

I can see not wanting to submit music to something that has "boner" in the title.
And I can also appreciate that D.o.S. doesn't want to maintain a hard boner line
about insisting on such a title and risk losing participants.
I think it is definitely possible to not take yourself too seriously and yet take
your music
very seriously. I don't think anybody is saying otherwise. I hope.
Low-hanging fruit (is that a euphemism for testicles?) or not, there are a billion word puns
available riffing on the word "drone". And... word-puns themselves might be
"low-hanging fruit" (hairy balls).
So this could easily be called
ILF Drone Comp 2015 and still sonically
kick ass and kick out the jams. And people would have fun participating and everyone
would have fun listening. Good times all around!
Or the title could be all political and be a comment about the state of the world in
the current moment, and be about Drone proxy wars and cyber war and
the obsolescence of the human factor and let the machines rebel and take over
and make an unholy racket unto the ends of the earth without dirty human intervention (hairy balls?).
Forever and ever, ahem.

130min of audio is a lot to digest. It will likely run longer.
Maybe listen to everything once submitted and arrange into "sides" as if it were a vinyl box set.
Groups of 18-22 min, and let the sonics steer the journey. Maybe presented in movements or acts, as there will be some visuals to further expand upon.
When I make mixes, the track flow eventually writes itself

Allow me to help lend an extra pair of ears, should the need arise

I'm cool with that. I get enough static from people for naming my project "Crotchthrottle" as it is...

That was a total throwaway title, btw ^.

For sure. Also 130min is, as I mentioned,
very conservative. i.e. with everyone capping out at 5 minutes.

Well, in the spirit of drone (and it's most minimalist/excess nature) I would suggest a few "volumes" for the digital comp.
ILF Drone Comp 2015: Vol. 1,2,3
that type of thing.
And then for a physical release someone can really curate a solid 80 mins. Maybe optimized for a home stereo listening experience? and then the CD comes with a download of the whole shebang.... I guess it wouldnt be TOO insane to push it to a double CD... depending on how much money we're willing to throw down.

And also how willing we are to have people mix/master/sequence. I have no problem with releasing it ala Somnium, either:
http://robertrich.com/discography/album/?album_id=24 but obviously we all have other things that we're working on in addition to real life concerns.
Also, of course, all this comes after we actually finish our tracks and such.

I'm pretty interested. But unsure of how possible that is for me.

I had no idea this thread was here. I'd love to do it. My only issue is I'm recording stuff on cassette and I haven't figured out how to really transfer and mix it down to the computer yet. I can probably put some basic tracks down in the next two weeks but the computer side might be tricky. Worst case scenario, if I can't figure it out can I send my 4-track cassette recording to someone here to digitize it?
