Yeah I agree the super pick attack is a distinct thing. If that's all you weren't into I think I'll grab one because I like the sound of metal picks but not how they play. I just really want a pick that sounds like that, feels good and is really durable. Thanks for the advice.
For people who really hate that, I think medium thickness tortex type picks have pretty low noise. My standard pick is a jazz 3 XL and I think they're pretty quiet for pick noise. I tend to notice it in harder materials and thinner plastic picks.

Did you try Vidrets gravity pick when we last met up?

I’m using Jazz III’s or Tortex with jazz tips (Freebies from a publisher) right now. It could just be my guitar selection, and its particular pickups — Jazzmaster with Curtis Novak’s JMV and JMWR — great pickups but they amplify everything by virtue of being so massive. I feel like I’m less conscious of string noises on a pointy metal guitar I have, which has cheaper humbuckers that are still somehow higher output.

I only play with my fingers. I have tried to use picks several times, but I just don't like it. The great plus is that I can pick several strings at once, which allows for nice chord play with simultaneous attack that doesn't sound like strumming. Think Mark Knopfler or Jeff Beck.

Instagram + Youtube has pushed the “good at guitar” label into virtuoso, Guthrie Govan-style hybrid picking, sweeping, and tapping mastery. So eventually I hope to master all those. But still trying to work on quieting down my sweep picking attack and working on really clean alternate picking, first.

You heard it here first: Pepe is really ProGuitarShop Andy.
I also play with my bare fingers a fair bit.
Although, I occasionally use a ProPik thumbpick (never use fingerpicks). Has a Delrin tip. A material I also favor for flatpicks.
I've also been playin' with a purple Dunlop Big Stubby a lot lately.
I'm still interest in sweep picking, but only my dummy version of sweep picking.

I wish I had his playing skills. But maybe he's not into synthesizers and Jazz piano as me, so I won't complain.

Pepe, imo you are straight-up better at funky rhythm playin' than Andy

I did!? yeah pretty sure. He's the one who's all about the stone pick now. And I didn't like that gravity thing so much.
