I was only kidding about the Starcaster though...
I doubt they'll be making one of those.

Yea, if there's one coming, it'll be presaged by MIM versions etc to test the market.
Remember all the neat classic patterned Squiers of the last decade have basically been offshored version of the Classic Players (when those were cheapish) and the Blacktops.
Bass VI I wouldn't have believed without the MIM version first.

For us old people, if they're even remotely playable, I can't see many hitting the used market - I missed the boat on the $600 MIJ reissues the first time around and kicked myself for years, and been saving pennies since the Pawn Shop ones got announced. Now if these make an appearance any time in the next six months, screw the Pawn Shop version.
And unless it's a terrible pile of shit (at which point I'll return it to wherever I order it from), it'll stay around in the permanent arsenal of fun stuffs.
These are the sorts of instruments that you don't get rid of - you may never be able to afford to reasonably replace them.
It's not like Generic Strat of the Week.

Ah but at a low price you will get people that get it and get frustrated cuz they can't figure it out, plus they wil be shipping via container from china so necks and bodies of the ones that don't make it will appear on ebay just like the bari tele.

Perhaps, once the newness wears off or whatever but I suspect that these aren't going to be a regular part of the catalog for an extended period of time.
I hope sincerely I'm wrong, I'd love to see some wacky variants and choice.
Think mostly this is Fender realizing that Schecter etc have been making money on stuff they were reluctant to release.

I'm a little worries about the switches. The ones on the VM Jag I demoed were really tough and the clicking came through the pickups fairly loudly. Dunno if I played a dud or if that's just how it is, but I hope they're not to bad.
Still wanna get my mitts on one something awful.

Those switches aren't specially made for guitars. You can get them in every electronics store (even here in austria). So I think that's why the click is audible. But- there are many different variations of those switches... And if you go to your local electronics store, they probably have a box full of them. So just pick out the few that don't click.

Fuck yeah that's legit. I'd totally lay down £300 for one of these, and I might even have enough by the time they come out! That would be cool.
We are going to have the biggest bass vi party when half the forum buys these.
