Re: The shaving thread
Thanks, Sparrow, never got on with electric shavers though.
Also, I'm a Luddite. I prefer as low technology as I can get away with.

Re: The shaving thread
My electric razor pulls more than it cuts, but its pop-out trimmer thing is good for reducing extra I'm-off-work-so-fuck-shaving growth.
After that, I shave with a months-old disposable razor and vegetable oil. What am I doing with my life.
I wanna get a doubled-edged razor sometime.

Re: The shaving thread
Yeah, trimmers & clippers I'm fine with. I usually "cut" my own hair with clippers.
I actually haven't used an electric razor since around the time I first started shaving. So, Sparrow, I'm sure the latest models are much better.
I think everyone should try a double edge razor though.
I think I might just buy a sampler pack of blades.

Re: The shaving thread
Feathers are sharp. But not as insanely throat cut sharp as they're hyped up to be. Take care with yer technique and they're the quickest and cleanest shave. With that being said my skin seems to like sharper blades, and I always considered myself someone with very sensitive skin.Chankgeez wrote:The Feathers are supposed to be insanely sharp. Most likely too sharp for my skin.
Definitely worth a trying.

Re: The shaving thread
Thanks, Fuzz_Pi, yeah, I think I've convinced myself to go for one of these sampler packs:
http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Sample-Packs_c_1.html
Probably the $10 one.
Although, someone recommended to me the DORCO ST-301s, which are only available in the "Everything" pack. I have a feeling that'd be a little overkill getting that pack.

Re: The shaving thread
I'll probably be shaving with one of those for the rest of my life (unless I decide to get into the straight razor game).

Re: The shaving thread
I need something better for shaving the neck area behind my beard. My electric shaver is great for my face and head, but garbage on neck.

Hey! Let's talk about serious thing. We're gonna talk about guitar, dude.

Rinse the blade in cold water. Gives a much closer shave. Also have you tried sorbolene as shaving cream. Razer glides nicely using that. Works good on my head. Used to work great on my face too, but I haven't shaved my face in years. I have a beard that would make me welcome as a member of ZZ Top.

Re: The shaving thread
Thanks for the tips, KaosCill8r.
I have some blades incoming to try out courtesy of the_carl. Will update after I've tried shaving with 'em.

Re: The shaving thread
Nice, maz.
First shave with the Astras today. A much smoother shave than the Wilkinson Swords I've been shaving with.
Didn't use too heavy a hand because I wasn't sure how sharp they were gonna be. Not super sharp. Didn't shave too closely. Next time I'll go a little closer. I'm pretty happy with 'em so far. I can see switching over to 'em. Remains to be seen how the Feathers'll fare.
Once again, thanks to the_carl for facilitating this blade testage.

Re: The shaving thread
I use an Edwin Jagger DE89 and dig the Astras as my daily blades since I get a pretty good shave out of them and never cut myself despite not paying enough attention to what I'm doing. The Feathers are definitely sharper but I have to be careful with them or I get razor burn from my shitty technique.

Re: The shaving thread
I kept running my hand over my face yesterday and saying. "Wow, this's a pretty nice shave and I didn't even put that much effort into it."
I'll go through all the Astras you sent before switching over to the Feathers.
