seriously, i know people from New York, Chicago, and San Francisco with separate stories about what an insufferable person HK was as a performer at their venue. one guy had to talk him out of going back to O'Hare three or four times before they got to the Metro.

uh y'all must be listening to some right perdy music to find his stuff ugly and unpleasant. its not "ugly and unpleasant" by the standards of breadth-of-style i think you think you hold yourself to enjoy.

personally i'd say the opposite, lou reed just had the blessing of warhol on his side.

i'm listening to whole bunch of music that is dissonant and not that nice in general - for me it's beautiful... Kaiser creates a whole new level of wrongness in music for me though

can't argue with the fact that i might not get it

i've actually seen Henry two or three times...having lived in the Bay Area since 1981, i was here when he first started getting a reputation. it may be that his attitude comes through in his playing to me, but i just don't find anything in his playing that i like. there's a kind of basic humanity and feeling that's missing in his playing for me that's present in many other guitarists who work that part of the musical spectrum. i LIKE angular, detached, and mechanical, but he gets too cut off from emotion for me.
