What do you guys think about this whole Sandman movie thang? I mean, I love Sandman as much as the next guy but you really couldn't pick something more difficult to adapt into the movie format. If it does happen though I'll be looking forward to my promotional chicken and telephone flavoured icecream that's for sure.

So, I realized the other day that you can torrent comic books. (although y'know I don't condone this practice or w/e)
Needless to say, I've been doing nothing but read Batman for the last few days.
I've read a few of the graphic novels and I've been reading the 'Knightfall' story arc.
I think I want to read some crime/noir-type comics next?
I really like that kind of atmosphere.

Unfff.
Just got my traditional annual load of trade paperbacks. Saga volume 1-3, and the first chunk of Batman: Zero Year.
First of all, SAGA, YOU GUYS.
It's amazing. It's beautiful. It's genius. I can't believe I only have like 6 more issues to read, and then I have to wait a fucking month between each issue.
It's been jokes that it's "star wars for perverts" But I'd say it's a space opera for adults. Also deals with a lot of relationship issues/parenting, so that might turn some folks off.
The batman arc is really cool. It seems like Snyder and Capullo tried pretty hard to cram as much sunshine into their origin story as possible. Like, the sun literally shines a lot. because fuck putting out Year One again. A nice new spoke in the wheel, so far, but obviously, it's not Saga.

Re: So do you guys like comi- err...graphic novels?
I just started getting back into comics after not reading any for about five years.
Going on a bit of a binge, ha. Seems like a lot of my favourite writers from back then have written a bunch of Marvel stuff, Fraction, Remender, Gillen, Spurrier... so I guess I'm going to be reading a load of that...
Enjoying Locke and Key, Sex Criminals, East of West, Rat Queens, everything Brubaker, (get some of his shit if you're looking for noir, he did a fantastic superhero/thriller years back, Sleeper, that's one of those comics I push on everyone). Actually the fantastic "Superior Foes of Spider-man" reminds me of that book. He's currently doing a noir with his long time artistic collaborator Sean Phillips "the Fade Out" and Velvet which is a seventies set spy thriller with a badass middle-age female lead.
