i read that as "i'm LICKING you more and more...". was like... all right. i'm open-minded. let's DO this.
yeah. my dads (kinda have two. long story. both of them met in the Navy on a nuclear sub and it involves zero homosexuality. IT'S A CONUNDRUM) loved sci-fi, dug on 2001... were telling me how they saw Alien in the theater when it first came out. were high as SHIT. the first scene that pans around the lights and control laden cockpit, all quiet and impressive.... halfway throught that one of their digital watches went off and they almost shit themselves.
i want that toy. i want that Monolith HARD.

Alien takes the cake as the scariest movie i've ever seen.

watch Pandorum. it's got some of that Old School Spooky Creature Movie vibe, crossed with the intensity of The Descent (one of course. two was.... not good....). i likededed it. plus, it stars that dooder that was the skinhead older brother of the kidnapped kid from Alpha Dog. he's awesome.

You do have to admit, though, it did give us HAL.

that's how i look at... an collection of awewome parts, that doesna really make that fun of a movie. HAL is great, "Daisy, Daiiii.. ssssy..." is all sad and touching and tear making..... angry Monolith Hugging Monkeys flippin' bones in frustration? yes please!
i just think if you never watched it as a young kicken it doesna hold up well to a first viewing now. i never watched it till i was almost 30 and STRUGGLED to finish it. so... dry.... and i dig on slower movies. i've got a wide palette of tastes to draw on for what entertains me in media. i just couldn't get into that 'un at all.
blegh.

2001 blows my mind EVERY TIME I watch it. I would call it a flawless film.
Pandorum I viewed recently and I will say that it is a fun sci-fi flick for a dead afternoon.

yeahhhhhhhhhh. i dunno. did you grow up with 2001? the whole Rose Colored Nostalgia Glasses thing...... i haven't watched Robocop since i was a kid 'cause i remember it as something beautiful and pure. i don't want to ruin it by seeing how bad it really looks. i just think that movie's never going to work for me since i didn't watch it till wit was a few decades old.
Clockwork Orange on the other hand. RARRRR.
and yeah. Pandorum's not the BEST movie. i thought it was interesting and fun to watch. it did feel like a mash up of a few films from different genres that i liked. in a good way.
The Descent skeered me HARD when i first saw it. i think i've only gone to the theaters by myself maybe 3 times. that was one. and it just wrecked me. very much the awesome.
