No. You are thinking about digital distortion and or bit crushing, which is good stuff
But what they are doing is modeling, line 6 has always had a "fuzz" sound it their shit too. I'm not saying modeling does has it uses [as a time saver mainly] but modeled fuzz just sucks ass. If you think about what fuzz is and does you should be able to grasp why.

Digital modulations seem to work reasonably well most of the time, but digital dirt in general is just wrong IMO. Even the M-#'s sound funny to me.

Getting back to new companies mixing it up here...I'd like to see more of
VFE's stuff. I've head a couple of clips here and there but that's about it, and some of their combo build possibilities look like fun.
