I think you're confusing a message board for tv. They're both viewed through a screen, but one involves other people that have internal motivations that don't revolve around entertaining you specifically.

So it's ok for YOU to not talk about gear, because you're correcting everyone else, but they're not talking about gear because they're stupid and unfunny and too cool for school?
