I'm probably the only person on the planet who would prefer a reverb mix knob instead of the stacked modulation knobs. The Space Echo doesn't have a modulation LFO, dammit! :grumpy:

Good point. Make that reverb (maybe stacked with tone?) and it's even better.

My guess is that less than .01% of TGP, the source of the mockup, has done any real time with an actual tape echo. Routinely discernible modulation in a 201 is worn bearings. Strong modulation is a motor that is on its way out. Don’t buy that unit at going rates and if you buy it fix it stat.

Its surreal to me that everyone's ideal tape echo emulation is supposed to be of a unit that is poorly taken care of.

I honestly didn't look at the picture too closely, but would 100% prefer a reverb knob over the stacked mod knobs!

Could even do concentric reverb on the level control and then swap the mod with the treb/bass of the re-20

that waza space echo LOOKS great but those knob choices were definitely made by someone who doesn't have an RE20 heh... Now one that mirrored the modes+controls of the RE20 would be actually killer!

It’s the same mythos that gives way to relic strats, new capacitors made to sound like 50 year old mustards, pre-rola celestions, on and on.

In their defense worn tape effects do sound cool.

But also the RE-20 is perfect as is, size and all, with the exception of the clock noise it puts out if you don't give it its own power supply. So needy.

yeah - no separate treble/bass tone controls, no input level. if you can't back the treble off, the thing quickly begins to sound like a gang of eight year olds jumping on a steel roof.
