It might have to wait till I can get it to the practice space so that I don't piss off my neighbors and roommates. Now it is time to build the head shell to give it a home.

Fucking nice. Those are the knobs I might be using for my Dunwich build, but smaller versions. It's great to see you building something like that. Congrats on it firing up.

So has anyone heard the new QOTSA album? It's pretty good so far. Not heavy but I still dig it.

Thanks man. I got hose knobs because I wanted some big ones that were similar to the ones on old matamps and oranges but a little bit different. Plus I didn't feel like paying 9 bucks a knob to the electric amp guy on ebay. I will also check out the new Queens album. Although I still haven't really been all that into them since Songs for the Deaf. I really listened that album to death but never really got into their later ones all that much.

Have not been here in a while. I will post this from Scion Rock Fest last weekend (which was awesome):

So, that happened. And we had some of the best barbecue ribs and pulled pork we've ever had.

Then we went to Vegas this weekend. Fun was had. Drinks were dranked.

Personally, I think the new QOTSA album is their best since SFTD. It's great. So weird and yet beautiful.

Was a pretty good show, just 3 bands means I was not fatigued by the time Windhand finished their set. Chatted with guys in Elder for a bit, very nice dudes! Bassist was using the first pedal I ever built, a tubescreamer clone which killed me but his bass tone was damn good, that and a Proco Rat into an old Sunn. Nick rocked a Pharaoh into his what I came to know was a highly modified Sound City 120 built into DR103 Overdrive type specs. Windhand had dual GT120s but the amps were stripped of logos and markers but I recognized the control panels and layout, no mistaking a Matamp.

Dude that sammich looks delicious!!!!! And I'm glad you guys had a great time at Elder / Windhand! Last I saw them they were using those matamps but stillhad the logos on them, and they sounded amazing.

One of the best parts of the Rock Fest was seeing Municipal Waste, my girlfriend wasn't into them on recordings, then meeting them she thought Dave and Tony were awesome, and then during their performance she understood why I like them after about half a song.

Then she sang along with Born To Party, which was really funny to hear her shout (Municipal Waste is gonna...) FUCK YOU UP.

I'm supremely jelly of everything in this post. Did you shake Wino's hand? Did it give you guitar superpowers? That's what I like to think would happen.

It's cool your girl is into the heavies. My wife finds most of my music 'upsetting'

What did you do in Vegas. I need to live vicariously through your experience there.

samzadgan wrote:anyway...been scrolling through the last few pages, and a lot to read...but Nick...i saw this post...and maybe i got it out of context, but i could help out if you want as far as financial advice - my day job is modelling out business plans etc...but in any case, I hope you don't mind me offering an idea...have you thought of an option where you secure a base line of revenue, which is based on low cost and reasonable revenue to fund the day to day of the business. This may be unpopular, but what you could do, is partner with a pedal/amp manufacturing company in china or somewhere similar to build lower quality pedals and low wattage amps, that although will have lower build quality and components, can still have the spirit of the Dunwich sound. Not only can you sell it under the Dunwich label, but you could also white label it which is a big money spinner. This allows you to run a business with very little overhead and no real fixed costs. Then you could do the custom high quality type work you are doing now and that would be cream on top as far as revenue goes.

that makes sense from a business perspective if i cared about money but i could not in my own conscience let dunwich go into half-assed poorly made junk. Its sort of my baby so I could not relinquish that kind of control to people who have no clue about it. (dont take this harshly, i am not offended by your very logical suggestion)

I think mine is a lost cause. I've tried. At least we both really love most classic rock so it's still totally acceptable to listen to music she likes in the car.
