good night at Elder/Windhand show. Went to show with a friend, met up with TJ and Adam (demon666) there.

Went to a local BBQ joint had this for dinner

Image

Was a pretty good show, just 3 bands means I was not fatigued by the time Windhand finished their set. Chatted with guys in Elder for a bit, very nice dudes! Bassist was using the first pedal I ever built, a tubescreamer clone which killed me but his bass tone was damn good, that and a Proco Rat into an old Sunn. Nick rocked a Pharaoh into his what I came to know was a highly modified Sound City 120 built into DR103 Overdrive type specs. Windhand had dual GT120s but the amps were stripped of logos and markers but I recognized the control panels and layout, no mistaking a Matamp.

Dunwich has 2 possible futures.

1. Taper down to part time hobby with no active building for customers

2. Create team of people to run and manage Dunwich where I just run it from the top of the pyramid.

It's a tricky situation for you. I think it would be great to hand over the duties of Dunwich to someone you trusted when the time came for it, but I'd totally understand if you wanted to maintain a very strict method and felt you were the only one up to the task. I definitely think you have something here with Dunwich, something that could be continued with your overall wisdom and guidance but ran by someone else who doesn't mind building daily. It's a difficult situation to be in. What do you do?

Who knows, maybe it's an easy fix and you could get a Sound City 150 for $75 and fix it for $200. That's $275 for 150 watts of pre-Hiwatt tone.

dazedbyday wrote:So I got together my orange/matamp/electric build. She fired up, and after a bit of debugging, she lets out a mighty roar. I will try and make a video of it sometime soon. It might have to wait till I can get it to the practice space so that I don't piss off my neighbors and roommates. Now it is time to build the head shell to give it a home.

Fucking nice. Those are the knobs I might be using for my Dunwich build, but smaller versions. It's great to see you building something like that. Congrats on it firing up.

So has anyone heard the new QOTSA album? It's pretty good so far. Not heavy but I still dig it.

Has anyone seen or heard of Normandy Guitars?

http://www.normandyguitars.com/alumicaster/

They're offering a brushed aluminium guitar (with a wood neck) for $899.

So actually decided to purge everything after a Jam session that made me realized how little I used half the crap I had. I'm selling both my cabs and playing through my PA for a little bit as my Orange is in the shop for repair. I think I'm going to continue this and buy myself some really nice cabs when I get a chance for it. I'm really looking forward to having decent speaker/cab combo. Any recommendations?

Besides emperor I can find those pretty consistently here in the Chicagoland area.

I have no idea whats wrong with it. the caps looked new (YES) but the power tubes didnt. old RCAs mixed with EHX original trans.

one of the sales guy that actually helped me out said that if they think its a "total loss" they will actually sell them for 50$ 100$. and he was like in that case take it to MY amp guy *hands card*

so who knows. I found a ric 4001 in a pawn shop a few days ago but its BEAT TO FUCK and they wanty 1400 for it. i might go in there armed with common sense and cash and try to get it for 700ish.

and its been there for at least 6 months
