It's tough idea to pin down to be sure. You don't see too many country-core bands around; I see it like this:

The way Brent explains each riff is how I imagine cross genre music to work. Not where every band covers multiple genres, but pulls ideas from all sorts of media, visual art, movies, etc. I think another good example is to look at the change in style between Earth's albums Pentastar: In the Style of Demons and HEX. They develop from fuzzy, riffy drone to something that could be the backdrop for a western movie or something. Essentially, I hear slow cowboy music.

But then again, I am one of those weird artist types; I wrote a paper on how elephant shit and large inconvenient installations are considered art... :idk:

also skip, you will NOT BELIEVE the day I had yesterday. . .

not only did I score that acoustic pre but I scored a carver power amp, tuner and pre amp AND AND ANDDDDDD

a pair of jbl L250s that are in roughish shape but they work and they sound soooo fucking good.

jbl 250s were JBLS king speaker in the 80s, and go for 1.5-2k (super clean 3Kish)

total spent yesterday:

186$ for all that shit including the acoustic pre. yup 100$ on a audiophile set up from the 80s. old fuck didnt want it cause it didnt have HDMI

"you know your speakers are still good so is your power amp"
"if you haul those damn speakers outta here there yours"

Sweet Jeebus dude, you are the king of quick deals!!!! I love the fact that you mainly focus on old PA cabs to use with bass, I've been chastised for my use of bass amps w/ pedals for guitar since I started playing. (mainly due to an ignorant 14 year old me buying a cheap ass bass amp from the pawn shop with out knowing the difference, but i used an old ibby punk pedal so I couldn't hear a difference until I bought a real guitar amp and didn't like how thin it sounded in comparison)

old pa cabs are like 1/3rd the cost of vintage bass cabs and usually have the same goddamn drivers in there

bass amps for guitar fucking rule dude. I cant wait to sell these jbls though. they sound great hauntingly great but theres a 150 watt sound city at a guitar center by me. . . . thats gonna haunt me more then selling those JBLS. . .

HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG

I saw that, you thinking about picking it up? I was considering putting it on layaway until I had the funds to pay for it.

Somehow managed to blow up my OR120 for some reason, I'm not sure what to blame. Took it into the tech but smoke was emanating from under one of the transformers. Burnt tubes, smelly fire. It's definitely not a good sign, I'm not sure if it had something to do with the cab I just got because everything seemed fine until it just went out on a big chord. Pilot stayed on but I was scared for anything else. one of the fuses also burnt out so we will see what happens. If the tranny is dead, I don't know what to do.

at the moment, I'm selling everything in lieu of possible big repair bill or needing to buy something new. Pray to the doomlords that the case isn't dead orange.

This is pretty much culture now. We have run out of new ideas as a species. Everything is a rehash, or is smash and grab of different ideas, has been for centuries now.

Try out Hiwatt stuff man, my buddies 74' DR103 on bass is a dream. I may or may not sell my Mat to get a 76' DR201.
All that loud clean power.

DO IT MAN. If you don't pick it up by next month I may be tempted. It may be a little overkill for an apartment though. I was looking for something maybe JCM800-esque around 50 watts watts with a master volume.

In other news I bought a Ritchie Blackmore Strat today, can't wait to get it!

Ya know, I used to think that. And it was somewhat liberating musically. Once you stop worrying about forging new territory and just start playing what ya feel like things start to come together.

Did ya ever have one of those estes model rocket kits when you were a kid?
WELL THAT SHITS BEEN DONE. NEIL ARMSTRONG WENT TO THE FUCKING MOON!!!
Enjoyment of rocketry destroyed. Or, FUCK Neal. I'm gonna make a fucking rocket and load the nose cone with some m-80's and it's gonna be the coolest shit ever. :yay:

I guess I'm saying who gives a shit if its been done. I think the metal I was into before I got into this stuff was suffering from the need to forge new territory even if that territory sucked ass. Just play good music that you enjoy and try to do it well. I'm good with that.

FAR KING OATH!!!! :omg: :omg: :omg:

Dude, always do what you feel, otherwise, what is the fucking point?

People who spend too much time taking shit apart and worrying about "breaking new ground" or whatever aren't even playing music...so fuck em!

So much wisdom in your words.
Doom council has spoken. Everyone, go forth....and SABB! :doom:

Also, some of you may have read the thread I started about legality of house shows.

TLDR?

He got shut down. But an idea was born. A church of the riff. Tax free, zoning free etc.
Well thats not going to happen at the dudes house but now he's dropping hints about having found a venue and it sounds like all the legal shit is currently being addressed to make this happen. Pretty fucking cool and I hope it works out and the crowd that was going to the house shows follows this new venue enough to make it a success.

Must spread the wisdom :D

I'm a bit excite to see how this plays out. The original situation really seemed like it should have been resolved with a ski race down the K2. It was seriously WTF.
D's band had played there, we were set up to play there. I saw ben verellens band there, was pretty cool. I'm going to do what I can to support this venture.

Yeah dude, whole thing seems like a fucking gouge. has that neighbourhood had an influx of new development lately? Maybe gone up a notch on the property ladder?
